Dragon Herbs Dragon Herbs Heaven Mountain Goji Berries 227g
£14.49
Heaven Mountain® Goji Berries, the only Goji berries that are snack-grade delicious™ Heaven Mountain® Goji Berries are plump, juicy, naturally sweet, and absolutely delicious. Unlike other Gojis on the market, Heaven Mountain® Goji Berries are sweeter, fleshier and have less seeds. They have a much higher moisture level which contributes to their texture as plump and juicy. Most Gojis on the market are rock hard. This is not without a reason. All the Gojis sold in the US come from China, whether they are labeled as Himalayan, Tibetan, or Wild. That translates to a very long transit time from the growing regions to the hands of the consumers. Typically, the berries reach the consumers at least 4-6 months after they are harvested. To stay shelf stable, most Goji farmers dry their Goji until the berries are very bone dry and very hard. After years of research and development, Dragon Herbs has developed a special handling process and a custom designed packaging that allows the berries’ natural moisture level to be retained while satisfying the shelf stability required in commercial trade nowadays. In a test conducted by an independent lab, Heaven Mountain® Goji Berries are shown to be twice as juicy as a competitor’s.  What makes Heaven Mountain® Goji Berries so special? Simply put, Heaven Mountain. Heaven Mountain is a remote mountain range in the northern region of Xin Jiang Province, China. In a more sophisticated way, the concept of Di Dao used in the world of herbalism can best describe the relationship between the geographical and geological features of the region and the phyto chemical profile of Heaven Mountain® Goji Berries.  The “Di Tao” of Herbs There’s a great concept in China known as Di Tao. The literal translation of Di Tao is “Earth Tao,” or “the Way of the Earth.” The Chinese dictionary definition of Di Tao is “from the place noted for the product ~ genuine, authentic, not from an inferior or counterfeit source.” According to the regulations of the Chinese Pharmacopeia, all herbal products manufactured and sold in China must utilize herbs that are Di Tao - that is, the herbs must come from a source that is considered legitimate and genuine. All plants are the product of their growing environment and conditions. Different regions have their distinctive make-up of water, soil, sunshine, climate, and biological distribution. The varying methodologies adopted by different regions in their cultivation, collection, and final preparation of the herbs further differentiate the herbs from different sources. The Di Tao source of an herb is gradually established through the historical use of the herbs. By documenting how herbs from different origins differ in their pharmacological effects on the human body, the regions or sources that produce the most desired results have slowly come to be recognized as the authentic genuine source, Di Tao, both by common knowledge among the practicing herbalists as well as by government supported official recognition in the materia medica. Heaven Mountain® Goji Berries is one such example. The water, the soil, the sunshine and the weather have the precise qualities necessary for producing the best, richest, tastiest, most potent Goji berries on Earth. As a result, they have an extraordinary and balanced phyto-nutrient profile.  Water As part of the enormous Gobi Desert that covers southern Mongolia and northern China, Xin Jiang receives little to no rain each year. Every drop of water in the growing fields is derived from the melted snow and glacial runoff from the pristine Heaven Mountain. This water is pure and structured – it is nature’s ultimate irrigation system.    Millions of people throughout Asia consume Goji berries every day for both their unique, satisfying flavor, and for their health benefits. In China’s first herbal encyclopedia, Shen Nong’s Materia Medica, written in the 1st century B.C., Goji was classified as a “superior tonic,” a class of herbs that people should take on an on-going basis to preserve youth and to promote general well being of life. Goji’s superior tonic classification has stood the test of time. Two thousand years later, Goji berries are still being consumed regularly throughout Asian civilizations for those purported reasons. We now know that Goji berries are a “high-ORAC” antioxidant-rich superfruit featuring important phytochemicals such a beta-carotene, zeaxanthin, betaine, polysaccharides (LBPs), trace minerals and vitamins.  Soil The virgin land of the Gobi Desert has little vegetation. It has a very high content of alkaline minerals. The pH level of the soil can be as high as 8.7 (17 times more alkaline than neutral) and the soil salt content can reach 1%. Few plants can survive in this kind of harsh environment. Goji, however, being an extremely adaptable plant, thrives here.  Daylight Duration Xin Jiang province has the longest daylight duration among all provinces in China (Tibet included). It averages 2550 to 3300 hours of sunshine per year. The intensive sun light allows for much more productive photosynthesis in the Goji plants, leading to more flesh, sweeter taste, and naturally, higher content of active ingredients such as Lycium Polysaccharides (LBP).  Precipitous Daily Temperature Fluctuation Another unique weather characteristic of Xin Jiang is the precipitous temperature fluctuation between day and night, usually as much as 36 to 45 °F within a single day. The locals joke that in Xin Jiang, no traveling is necessary in order to experience the four seasons within one day. It is quite common that you start the day with a winter jacket, strip down to a silk shirt at noon, then at night, you can enjoy their famous watermelons, next to a bonfire, that is. It is Heaven Mountain Goji’s superb adaptability that makes it a highly revered adaptogenic, stressfighting tonic herb. The Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China has officially certified Heaven Mountain goji berries as Di Tao.

Spring Dragon Longevity Tea The Healthiest Tea on Earth   The Multifunctional “Magical grass”   In Asia, Gynostemma is known as a “magical grass.” It has been reported to have a wide range of health-promoting benefits   In Asia, Gynostemma is considered to be*   Invigorating (does not cause hyperactivity – not a stimulant) Calming (promotes a sense of peace – not a sedative) Anti-aging (antioxidant and more) Anti-inflammatory (not as a medicine, but to help reduce the factors that cause low grade, sub-clinical chronic inflammation experienced by all humans) Immune-regulating (not as a medicine, but to help support the normal healthy functioning of various immune functions) A respiratory tonic (improve respiratory efficiency) A digestive aid (Gynostemma is very soothing)   Gynostemma has been shown in animal studies to have liver and cardiovascular-protecting benefits and to support normal healthy functioning in these organs.*   The ultimate greatness of Gynostemma lies in its broad spectrum adaptogenic (stress modulating) quality.* Adaptogenic herbs improve the efficiency of the metabolic, neurological, immunologic, respiratory and endocrine systems. Prolonged consumption of Gynostemma tends to have a highly protective quality because it strengthens the adaptive capacity of the person at every level of their life.*   Gynostemma has a double-direction activity in many areas*   Gynostemma has the ability to bring balance to the body under a wide range of stressful circumstances.   Japanese studies have indicated that Gynostemma has a double-direction, regulating, adaptogenic influence on thecentral nervous system. It is calming when one is overexcited and invigorating when one is fatigued. Gynostemma is widely known for its “spirit-lifting” effect on one’s mood. Gynostemma may have a direct strengthening effect on the heart*   Gynostemma has developed an enormous reputation in Asia as a major aid in weight management programs   Gynostemma has been shown to have a double-direction activity with regard to weight. Gynostemma can be useful in reducing excessive body fat, when combined with a reasonable exercise program and a healthy diet that modulates caloric intake.  Gynostemma may also help athletes, body builders or excessively slim people to gain weight. Gynostemma accelerates the body’s metabolism and helps adjust blood sugar and blood fat levels. Adjusting blood sugar and blood fat are critical steps in attaining healthy metabolic function, whether one wants to lose weight by reducing excessive body fat, gain weight by building lean muscle, or maintain healthy weight by helping regulate bodily functions. Although Gynostemma is not laxative, it may help maintain healthy bowel movements. Gynostemma acts as a scavenger in the stomach and intestines, ridding the body of toxins, toxic microbes and waste that otherwise may become lodged in the intestines. Gynostemma protects the stomach lining.*   Gynostemma has potent antioxidant, and concomitant anti-inflammatory activity   Gynostemma is a potent antioxidant that protects cell membranes from oxidative injury which can result in chronic inflammation.*   The main active ingredients in Gynostemma are known as saponins   The saponins in Gynostemma are called gypenosides. There are over 100 gypenosides in Gynostemma. These gypenosides are responsible for the hepato-protective and adaptogenic qualities of this tonic herb.*   The Story of Spring Dragon Longevity Tea   In 1972, a group of Japanese researchers reported that Gynostemma tea was being consumed as a daily “longevity tea” by large numbers of southern Chinese people. It was revered in the regions where it grew as “magical grass” because of its many reputed health benefits. Subsequently, studies conducted first in Japan revealed that Gynostemma was extremely rich in saponins that were extremely close to those found in ginseng and Siberian ginseng. As it turned out, Gynostemma is even richer in these saponins than ginseng. Gynostemma tea had generally been made from wild mountain Gynostemma pentaphyllum plants, but as Gynostemma reputation as a longevity herb grew, farmers learned to cultivate it. Within a decade, Gynostemma was being consumed by millions of Asians as a tonic tea.   in 1992, Ron Teeguarden was traveling to China to oversea a production run of tonic herbal formulations. Because of a ticketing mistake, he was upgraded to first class. By coincidence, he was seated on the long flight from San Francisco to Beijing next to Professor Xiao Peigun. Also, by “coincidence,” Ron had an photocopied article written by Professor Xiao in his travel bag. The article was entitled “Anti-Aging Chinese Herbs.” Xiao Peigun, as it turned out, was Director of the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development inBeijing, a major research institute belonging to the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. He was also head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine, Commissioner of the Committee on Pharmacopeia for the People’s Republic of China and a Commissioner of New Drug Evaluation for the PRC. In other words, he was one of the most powerful and knowledgeable herbal experts in the world. Because Ron had his article on the plane, Professor Xiao took Ron under his wing. When Ron met with Professor Xiao at the institute, he asked Professor Xiao if he knew of any special tonic herbs with significant anti-aging qualities. Professor Xiao responded instantly that Gynostemma was exactly what I was looking for. Professor Xiao introduced Ron to the supplier of the highest quality Gynostemma in China and Ron was ready to develop a product.   Gynostemma is traditionally consumed as a tea, just like green tea. It is delicious as well. At the same time, Ron had come across a special, traditional Chinese method of brewing “longevity teas” by supersaturating extracted herbs into tea leaves. Ron decided to use this ancient technology to supersaturate Gynostemma leaves with a number of other tonic herbs that had traditional reputations as longevity herbs. With the help of Yanlin, he found a tea master who knew the secret of preparing the “longevity teas.” After experimenting for several months at Yanlin’s parents home in China, the final tea was determined and thus was born Spring Dragon Longevity Tea.   In Addition to Gynostemma   Schizandra – Called the “quintessence of Chinese herbs,” Schizandra is a delicious, exotic tonic fruit that is traditionally used to tonify all the systems of the body, clean the liver, open the lungs, nourish and moisturize the skin, and sharpen the mind. It is a potent antioxidant.*   Goji Berries – Known in Asia as a premier “longevity and anti-aging herb,” this delicious tonic fruit is a true superfood, rich in antioxidants. It is famous for enhancing strength, vision and beauty. Goji is rich in immune-potentiating polysaccharides.   Astragalus – One of the most important herbs in all of herbalism, Astragalus is highly regarded for its immune-regulating, immune-potentiating effects. It is also a potent energy tonic and blood tonic.   Eleuthero – Also known as “Siberian Ginseng,” Eleuthero is famous for its ability to enhance physical and mental endurance, to help us handle stress more efficiently and as a gentle mood elevator. Eleuthero, like ginseng and Gynostemma, is rich in saponins. It is the ultimate adaptogenic herb.   Luo Han Guo – This delicious, exotic fruit has been used for centuries as a lung tonic. It contains mogroside, a potent immune-potentiating glucoside.   Traditional Function  Adaptogenic, antiaging, immune regulating, anti-inflammatory, blood sugar regulating, fat reducing, tonifying to the Lungs, Heart, Spleen/Pancreas, Liver and Kidney, and detoxifying    Who can use it? Anyone   Concentration: Whole cut Gynostemma tea; concentrated herbal extract (8:1)   Specifications: 20 teabags per box   Precautions   If you are under a doctor’s supervision for cardiovascular disease, check with your physician prior to using this or any herbal product.    Usage: Drink 1 – 3 tea bags a day, making from 1 to 10 cups of tea

It is a primal Jing tonic that may be consumed for a lifetime.*    The Herbs in Shou Wu Formulation   He Shou Wu Root   Polygonum multiflorum is one of the most important and widely used Chinese tonic herbs. It shares the position as the primary essence tonic of Chinese herbalism with Goji Berry and Prepared Rehmannia Root. The He Shou Wu plant is traditionally believed to be capable of absorbing huge amounts of Qi from the earth it grows in, and stores this Qi in its root system. He Shou Wu (Polygonummultiflorum) is a tonic to the Kidney and Liver functions. It helps tonify the vital essence and blood. He Shou Wu is a very effective blood tonic. It has been used for this purpose for over two thousand years. Recent research corroborates this ability to build healthy red blood cells in healthy individuals. It supports healthy muscles, tendons and bones. It also helps support healthy aging, helps maintain the youthful condition and color of the hair, helps maintain healthy sperm and ova, and helps support the back and knees of normal, healthy individuals. It is the premier longevity herb of Chinese tonic herbalism.   Prepared Rehmannia Root   Prepared Rehmannia Root is traditionally said to be the “Kidney’s own food.”  It is a fundamental Kidney tonic in Chinese tonic herbalism, and is considered to be a primary longevity herb. It is found in a great many common “anti-aging” formulations. It is considered rejuvenating and life supporting.     Prepared Rehmannia Root is a fundamental Yin Jing tonic, providing Yin Jing directly to the Kidney system. The “Kidney” system in Chinese philosophy encompasses the tissues and functions associated with the skeleton, adrenals, sexual glands and organs, the renal system, and the ability to store Jing. Prepared Rehmannia Root is said to benefit sexual functions in men and women and is included in almost every formula that is designed to strengthen reproductive functions, including fertility in healthy individuals. It forms the Yin base of many men’s potency formulas.    Prepared Rehmannia Root is a major blood tonic in traditional Chinese herbalism. This is of course of special importance to women, who always need to rebuild blood. Prepared Rehmannia Root, when combined with Dang Gui becomes an even more potent blood tonic. Dang Gui is Chinese herbalism's premier blood tonic.    Prepared Rehmannia Root is usually combined with at least one Qi tonic to improve its assimilation and effectiveness. In this formula, Eleuthero (Siberian Ginseng), a major Qi tonic, is used. Eleuthero is a superb adaptogen and is also an excellent blood tonic. It quickly increases vitality as well.   Aged Citrus Peel, Red Jujube Date, Licorice Root are all Qi tonics that have the special purpose of helping to regulate Qi and improve digestion and assimilation of the main herbs in this formula. He Shou Wu and, to an even greater degree, Prepared Rehmannia are very rich, so these three herbs are included to make the He Shou Wu and Prepared Rehmannia easily digestible.*   Traditional Function: Tonifies Yin Jing and Qi   Who can use it? Dragon Herbs Dragon Herbs Eagle Vision (100caps 500mg)
£21.00
Eagle Vision According to tradition Chinese health theory, the “Liver” opens into the eyes and controls vision. The Chinese version of the Liver is a complex organ system. Its functions include not only those of the liver as we know it physiologically in the West, but also includes a number of other organic structures and functions that might seem unrelated at first glance, but are in fact closely related functionally – such as the control of the peripheral nervous system and, in particular, our vision. The eyes are a part of the peripheral nervous system, and are therefore controlled by the Liver. Both visual acuity and the condition of the eyes itself are under the influence of the Liver. The Liver “prefers to remain cool.” Yin tonifying herbs provide the natural coolness that supports healthy eye tissue and functioning.  Goji, Chrysanthemum, Dendrobium, Peony and Cassia tora nurture Liver Yin.  Goji berry is famed for its benefit to the eyes as well as to the system as a whole. Goji is a Liver and blood tonic. Goji berries contain carotenoids that promote vitamin A production and provide important eye nutrients, including zeathanthin, a carotenoid that protects the health of the retina, the pigment that coats the retina (the back wall of the eye). An herb that is highly reputed for its benefits to the eyes is the small Oriental Chrysanthemum Flower. This flower is used in Chinese herbalism to directly and quickly benefit the eyes and vision by clearing obstructions and allowing energy to flow freely through the eyes. It is a cooling herb which clears heat away from the eyes. This herb can help relieve temporary mild eye strain, eye redness and eye congestion due to fatigue and temporary dryness resulting from environmental conditions. Anger and toxic substances will cause the eyes to become red, as will a lack of sleep. If your eyes are chronically fatigued, red or congested, or become so due to a condition such as hay fever, see a physician as this may indicate a serious condition. Cornus is another tonic fruit that has powerful effects on the “Kidneys” and “Liver.” It is traditionally believed to be a valuable eye tonic. Astragalus and Dioscorea supplement Qi and strengthen the body. Vitex rotundifolia supports clear vision. Ligusticumstimulates the smooth flow of Qi and blood. Tribulus tonifies the Kidney and Liver. Cassia tora cools the eyes. Tonic herbs are not to be used for the purposes of curing, preventing or treating any disease of the eyes (for that, you should consult a physician before using any herbs or supplements). This formula is used to promote the proper energy balance in the eyes so that the eyes remain healthy. As a Yin tonic, it also promotes healthy fluid balance of the eyes. Again, if you are experiencing significant eye inflammation or what appears to be an eye infection or any other disease of the eye, you should consult a physician.*   Traditional Function: Tonifies Liver, nourishes blood and benefits the eyes and vision*   Concentration: 7:1   Specifications: 100 Capsules 500 mg each   Ingredients Goji berry, Dendrobium stem, Senna obtusifolia seed, Chrysanthemum flower, Astragalus seed, Ligusticum chuanxiong rhizome, Tribulus seed, Chinese Yam rhizome, Cornus officinalis fruit, Vitex rotundifolia fruit, Chinese White Peony root.   Other Ingredients: Vegetarian capsules**, rice powder.     Usage: Take 3 capsules, 2 times per day or as directed by a healthcare professional.   Remember Ron Teeguarden’s “First Rule of Tonic Herbalism,” summed up in a single word – Compliance. Dragon Herbs Dragon Herbs Desert Cistanche Drops 2oz
£31.00
Desert Cistanche Drops Cistanche, the King of Desert Herbs Desert Cistanche Drops is a very potent Yang tonic preparation made from one of the world’s truly elite tonic herbs, Desert Cistanche. It has been used for centuries by men to enhance male sexual function and power, and many women consume it as well. Desert Cistanche Drops is made with large wild Cistanche (Rou Cong Rong in Chinese) from the desert of Western Mongolia and Inner Mongolia as it rises westward toward the Heaven Mountains of Central Asia. Genghis Khan consumed Desert Cistanche every day. This unrivaled tincture is rich and pleasant to the palette. Traditionally in Chinese health philosophy, a range of functions including the sexual, renal, structural (skeletal), neurological, marrow-supporting and endocrine functions, and their related tissues, are known collectively as the “Kidney.” Desert Cistanche is a superior “Kidney tonic herb” that may be used by men or women, though it is most widely used by men to promote sexual power and virility. It is famously known as the “Stalk Enlarger.” It has gained the traditional reputation of strengthening male erections, intensifying orgasms in both men and women, and for enlarging the penis. Cistanche is also considered to be an excellent mood supporting herb. (No scientific-consensus substantiation is available yet for any of these traditional “benefits.” Cistanche is NOT an E D drug, and is not used to treat, cure or prevent any disease. It is a tonic herb, a kind of superfood that promotes optimal functioning of normal bodily functions.) Cistanche is famous for being simultaneously powerful and gentle. It is both Yang and Yin. Its actions are profound and unmistakable, but its actions as a Yang tonic are said to be “calm and smooth,” meaning that it is not sudden or harsh. Research on Desert Cistanche A set of constituents known as PhGs (phenylethanoid glycosides) are the primary constituents of Cistanche for tonifying Kidney functions. These Cistanche glycosides are quite similar to those of Rehmannia, another well-known Kidney tonic herb. Rehmannia is considered to be a Yin Kidney tonic. In fact, three of the primary glycosides found in Cistanche are also found in Rehmannia, along with Rehmannia’s primary glycoside, catalpol. Rehmannia and Cistanche are both rich in sterols such as sitosterol. Thus, it seems that the “gentle” nature of Cistanche, generally considered a very potent Yang tonic, is due to having constituents that also nourish Yin. Recently, there has been increasing scientific attention on Cistanche for its remarkable anti-aging, antioxidant and neuroprotective bioactivities. Pharmacological studies show that saponins called cistanocides, related to the ginsenosides of Ginseng and the astragalosides of Astragalus, are major active components of Cistanche. These cistanocides contribute to an energy tonifying, adaptogenic range of actions. Cistanche long ago earned the honorable title of “Ginseng of the Desert.” Cistanche also contains a rich array of volatile oils, iridoids, lignans, alditols, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides that contribute to its many tonic functions. Galactitol and the oligosaccharides moisten and nourish the colon and support normal healthy bowel functions. This is one of the primary functions of Desert Cistanche. Cistanche polysaccharides and cistanocides are responsible for improving body immunity. The Rich History of Cistanche Shennong first described Cistanche 2,500 years ago Shennong, one of the founders of Chinese culture and the author of the world’s first herbal text, had this to say about Cistanche: “Cistanche has a salty taste. It mainly treats the five taxations and seven damages, supplements the center, eliminates cold and heat and pain in the penis, nourishes the five viscera, strengthens Yin, and boosts Jing and Qi. In females, it makes pregnancy possible and treats concretions and conglomerations. Protracted taking can make the body light.” In fact, Cistanche is not really salty though it grows in alkaline soil; it is actually sweet and rich-tasting. It is not bitter, salty or pungent. To an herbalist’s palette it is quite delicious. Cistanche has been used in traditional formulations as a tonic to restore and support Kidney functions and to tonify Jing, and thus to help restore and maintain youth and to prevent hasty degeneration with aging. Shennong is one of the greatest herbal geniuses in the history of mankind. He developed the principle of three levels of health practice and of herbs, and virtually single-handedly launched Chinese herbalism. He described 360 herbs in his great herbal text, Shennong’s Pharmacopeia Asian sex manuals always recommend Desert Cistanche as a long term tonic to build primal power and enhance endowment Numerous classical Asian manuals on both herbalism and sexuality describe Cistanche in much detail. For instance, it was mentioned no less than one hundred times in The Essence of Medical Prescriptions (984 A.D.) in the sections on men’s health, sex, Yang tonics and physical empowerment. This is one of the most honored medical texts for Oriental medical practitioners still in existence. One of the sections focused entirely on the bedroom arts, and Cistanche was the primary herb used in numerous formulations for men. It was referred to routinely as the “stalk enlarger,” in reference to the “jade stalk” or penis. The herb remains extremely popular in Asia. Products featuring Cistanche are found in all herb shops. Cistanche has a colorful reputation in China, since everyone knows what it does. Desert Cistanche Drops is made from large three-to-four year old Cistanche stalks collected in the wild Inner Mongolian desert. This product is NOT made with commercial grade Cistanche. It is made with grade A+ wild Cistanche stalks. The infamous Genghis Khan, who fathered literally hundreds of children in his lifetime and who has left the largest substantiated genetic trail of any single man in human history, consumed Desert Cistanche every day as a tonic. His Y-chromosome is today found in an estimated 16 million of his male–line progeny in a vast swath of Asia from Manchuria to Central Asia, and more recently throughout the world. That’s one of every 200 males on earth today. Cistanche grows wild in the regions that were first controlled by Genghis Khan (Inner Mongolia and Heaven Mountain). Wild Cistanche is collected in arid regions that are untouched by civilization. More Research on Desert Cistanche Cistanche may benefit learning and memory A study entitled “Cistanche enhances learning and memory by inducing nerve growth factor” (published in The Journal Behavioral Brain Research, Jan 20, 2011) reports that Desert Cistanche extract increased nerve growth factor (NGF) induction in animal cells. NGF and NGF–like molecules have potent biological activities such as promoting neurite outgrowth, protecting neurons (preventing neuronal death), supporting synapse formation, and enhancing learning and memory functions. Cistanche extract significantly enhanced learning and memory in mice, and the memory improvement function was determined to be a result of up-regulation of the nerve growth factor. NGF has also been demonstrated to have an association with the feelings of romantic love through a pathway associated with dopamine. Cistanche may have cardio-protective and respiratory benefits In a study entitled “Herba Cistanche extract enhances mitochondrial glutathione status and respiration in rat hearts” (published in Pharmaceutical Biology, May 2010), Cistanche has been shown to enhance mitochondrial ATP generation. ATP is the “energy-rich molecule” at the root of all living vitality. Treatment with an alcohol extract of Cistanche enhanced mitochondrial glutathione status and increased mitochondrial membrane potential. Glutathione is one of the three primary innate antioxidants produced by humans to fight off free radicals. In addition, an increase in respiration was observed in mitochondria from Cistanche-treated rat hearts. The enhancement of mitochondrial glutathione status and functional ability may be related to cardioprotection afforded by Cistanche. (Desert Cistanche Drops is both an alcohol extract and a water extract so that all constituents are extracted.) This is the analytical laboratory at the facility Dragon Herbs uses to produce Desert Cistanche Drops and most of our other “Drops.” The equipment is state of the art. More research on the actions of Cistanche PhGs In the review section of an article in the Journal of Food Analysis, it is stated that the major active components of Cistanche deserticola, PhGs, have been reported to have cardioactive, hepatocyte protective, antioxidant, antibacterial, and neuroprotective activities.  Here are some of the established functions of the main PhGs in Cistanche deserticola (Desert Cistanche) mentioned in the review:   Cistanoside A exhibits an anti-inflammatory effect. Cistanoside C possesses DNA-repair effects. 2’-acetylacteoside exhibits antioxidant, DNA-repair and neuroprotective effects. Isoacteoside possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and vaso-relaxant activities. Acteoside exhibits both estrogenic and anti-estrogenic effects, probably acting as a regulator. Acteoside also exhibits anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Isocistanoside C has antioxidant activity. Echinacoside exhibits anti-inflammatory effect and enhances wound healing. Tubuloside B has a neuroprotective effect. Cistanche deserticola is not endangered but it is a “monitored botanical,” meaning that its collection and exportation in and out of China or region of growth as a raw material is strictly limited and governed by International CITES regulations. Although Cistanche is very popular in China and other Asian countries, and the superior grade Cistanche is coveted in the more affluent Chinese market, it is NOT over-collection that has caused any shortages of the herb. Cistanche is a parasitic herb that grows on another plant, a desert shrub called Saxaul. The stems and branches of Saxaul are heavily relied upon by natives of the desert as a superior fuel wood. As a result, Saxaul has been over-collected, restricting Cistanche availability. The government is trying to provide alternative forms of fuel to the natives of the regions where it grows to mitigate use of Saxaul and thus to allow the Cistanche population to expand again. Dragon Herbs complies with all CITES regulations and is committed to sustainable practices. Furthermore, Dragon Herbs limits the production of Desert Cistanche Drops to a relatively small quantity (far below potential demand), to protect sustainability of this great natural herb. Production and potency For Desert Cistanche, alcohol extraction is considered to be superior to simple water extraction, although both alcohol and water extraction have been traditionally practiced. Desert Cistanche Drops is fully extracted with BOTH alcohol and water to maximize extraction of ALL active constituents. The extract is concentrated to optimal potency in a GMP certified facility, meeting Ron Teeguarden’s strictest standards of excellence. Longan, translated literally as “Dragon Eye” fruit, is a wonderfully delicious, fleshy fruit that is extremely popular in China as a snack. Although in Asia it is consumed fresh in the fall, this unique tasting sweet fruit is usually dried and consumed throughout the year much like raisins or dried apricots. But unlike most other dried fruits, Longan is a major tonic herb. It is used by the Chinese as a blood tonic (an herb that builds blood), as an energy tonic to increase vitality, to nurture the heart, and to enhance the beauty of the skin.  A great blood tonic. Longan is one of the premier blood tonics of Chinese tonic herbalism, it is often combined with other blood tonics such as Dang Gui and Peony to make blood building teas and formulations. Dragon Eye Fruit has a very high content of iron – about 20 times that of grapes and 15 times that of spinach. A great Qi tonic for building up your everyday energy. Consumed regularly, Longan is more than just a temporary energy booster. It is an excellent Qi tonic that increases long-term vitality. Since it is both a blood tonic and a Qi tonic, it can be used to relieve insomnia, forgetfulness and anxiety which are the results of blood and Qi deficiency, according to Chinese philosophy. Promotes calmness. Longan promotes calmness, especially when combined with Shen tonics such as Reishi. It has been found to promote a deep, refreshing sleep. If you have difficulty sleeping, you may enjoy using a classic tonic formulation known as “Ginseng and Longan Combination” that is famous for helping promote a good night’s sleep. A fantastic beauty herb and sex tonic. Longan adds luster and beauty to the skin. It is believed among the Chinese people that Longan is not only great for the skin, but is also a fantastic sex tonic. For that reason, Longan is considered a MUST for women who wish to be both beautiful and sensual – it has a 2000 year reputation as a special love tonic. Longan nurtures the heart. According to traditional Chinese herbal theory, Longan directly nourishes the heart, promoting heart health.   Usage: Logan is a great every day snack. Longan’s iron content makes it an excellent supplement to a vegetarian or low-animal-protein diet. Give it as a healthy snack in your kid’s lunch.  Contents: 1 pound bag dried longan berries
Dragon Herbs Dragon Herbs Duanwood Reishi 100caps (500mg)
£38.00
Duanwood Reishi   Reishi Mushroom Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) is the most revered herbal substance in Asia, ranking as the elite substance for the attainment of radiant health, longevity and spiritual attainment. It ranks in Asia with Ginseng, Deer Antler, Rhodiola, and Cordycepsas a pre-eminent tool in the attainment of radiant health.  It has maintained that position for at least 3000 years, and its reputation and value are only increasing.  Numerous legends provide a rich and extensive record of Reishi in Asian society.    Reishi has traditionally been used as an anti-aging herb, and has been used for many diseases and disorders as well. It has long been a favorite tonic food supplement by the Chinese Royal family and virtually any one who could obtain it. Reishi was particularly revered by the followers of the Taoist tradition as the "Elixir of Immortality." Taoists have continuously claimed that Reishi promotes calmness, centeredness, balance, inner awareness and inner strength. They have used it to improve meditative practices and to protect the body, mind and spirit so that the adept could attain both a long and healthy life and “spiritual immortality” (enlightenment). Due to its rarity in the past, the common people could rarely obtain a Reishi mushroom, and it was popularly revered as a greater treasure than any jewel.   Traditionally, Reishi is said to be a nourishing tonic, tonic to the three treasures (Jing, Qi and Shen). It is considered to be capable of building body resistance, and to be powerfully detoxifying to the cells and tissues of the body. Reishi is slightly sedative on an immediate basis but builds energy over time. Reishi is universally believed is Asia to prolong life and enhance intelligence and wisdom.   Since Reishi has been known to have many functions, it has been the subject of a great deal of research in recent years. It is absolutely safe, being non-toxic.   Reishi is a profound immune potentiator. It has been found to significantly improve the functioning of the immune system whether the immune system is deficient or excessive. In this sense, it is an immune "modulator" – that is, it helps to modulate, or regulate, and fine-tune the immune system. Our immune system is a virtually miraculous network of activities designed over millions of years to protect us from viruses, bacteria, parasites, molds, dust, pollen and malignant cells. It is the responsibility of the immune system to detect the intrusion, or invasion, of these entities and to mount a defense in order to eliminate them. A healthy immune system is capable of resisting most such intruders and a very hardy system may be able to resist invasions that many other people's systems cannot.  If the immune system is weakened or malfunctioning, the invading microbes can easily establish a foothold in our body and disease sets in. Antibiotics can often be used to stop the invasion at this time, but chronic use of antibiotics further weakens the immune response. Furthermore, antibiotics are useless against viruses, pollens and most parasites. They are certainly useless against malignant (cancerous) cells generated in our own bodies. It is much better to resist the invasion from within with a fully fortified immune system and not become ill in the first place.  This is where herbs like Reishi our now attracting the attention of scientists and consumers alike.   Many chemical constituents play a role in Reishi’s immune modulating capacity.  The polysaccharide components in particular seems to play an important role in attacking cancerous cells, but not healthy ones, while simultaneously strengthening the body's overall immune functions. The polysaccharides appear to help the body attack microbial invaders such as viruses, bacteria and yeast.    But Reishi does not just "stimulate" the immune system. It regulates it. And that is what makes Reishi so precious.  If the immune system is excessive, as is the case with autoimmune diseases and allergies, Reishi can have significant positive influence. A group of chemicals known as ganoderic acids help fight auto-immune diseases such as allergies. Ganoderic acids inhibit histamine release, improve oxygen utilization and improve liver functions. Ganoderic acids are also potent antioxidant free-radical scavengers.    Still another component, Beta-1, 3-glucan, helps regulate and stabilize blood sugar levels. Not only that, but these same components have been shown to have powerful anti-tumor properties.    Reishi is widely used in Asia to improve the cardiovascular system. It helps lower HDL (the "bad" cholesterol) and reduce excess fatty acids. It has been found to prevent and treat hardening of the arteries, angina and shortness of breath associated with coronary heart disease.    It has also been approved in Japan and China for the treatment of myasthenia gravis, a serious auto-immune disease. Besides that, it is commonly prescribed by MD’s in Japan for chronic bronchitis, memory loss, insomnia, hyperlipidemia and a whole range of degenerative diseases of the elderly, including disorders associated with senility.    Reishi is a superb anti-stress herb. Throughout history it has been used to bring balance into the lives of people who needed help in this department, and that means most everyone. Deep in antiquity, it was routinely used by mountain hermits, monks, Taoist adepts and spiritual seekers throughout Asia because it was believed to help calm the mind, ease tension, strengthen the nerves, strengthen memory, sharpen concentration, improve focus, build will power and, as a result, help build wisdom. That is why it was called the "Mushroom of Spiritual Potency" by these seekers. The people of Asia have never lost their faith in Reishi. They believe more than ever in Reishi's power to improve the quality of life by improving the inner life of a human being. All the scientific validation only explains the physical nature of Reishi, but it is the profound ability of Reishi to improve one's life on every plane that makes it so miraculous. Reishi is indeed calming and centering. Everyone who takes Reishi notices the peacefulness that seems to accompany its use. Many people are able to stop using chemical drugs. And Reishi seems to be cumulative, gradually strengthening the nerves and actually changing how we perceive life.    Reishi is a substance that builds health on all levels. It is the rarest of jewels in Nature. Life itself is based on the ability to adapt to the stresses, the attacks, the challenges that come our way every day. Reishi seems to provide an incredible resource of the full range of energies we need to meet these challenges. Reishi is indeed "the great protector," protecting us on every level---physically, immunologically, mentally, and spiritually. It helps us adapt to the world and provides additional power for us to achieve a superior level of life.  When we are so protected and so provided for, we can achieve things that otherwise would be impossible. That is whyReishi has been called the "herb of good fortune."   Traditional Function: Tonifies Jing, Qi and Shen, protects the liver and heart    Who can use it? Anyone   Concentration: 10:1   Specifications: 100 Capsules 500 mg each   Ingredients: Duanwood Reishi fruiting body extract   Other Ingredients: Vegetarian capsules (Pullulan caps 100% natural, water-soluble polysaccharide produced through a fermentation process; vegetable origin; non-GMO; no starch, preservative or chemical modifications; gluten free.), rice powder.    Usage: Take 3 capsules, 2 times per day or as directed by a healthcare professional   Remember Ron Teeguarden’s “First Rule of Tonic Herbalism,” summed up in a single word –Compliance. This is a very high potency Mountain Ant extract. It is made with clean, farmed Polyrhachis Ant from Changbai Mountain in remote northeastern China (Manchuria). Chinese Mountain Ant Polyrhachis Ant is one of the adaptogenic superstars of Chinese tonic herbalism. Classically considered one of the “forever young foods” incorporated into daily diets, Polyrhachis Ant is widely consumed in Asia as a dietary supplement for its many known benefits. This Mountain Ant is famous for supporting many important life functions and for its replenishing tonic properties of restoring Qi, increasing vitality and nourishing the blood. Polyrhachis Ant is one of the few ‘herbs’ that gives quick Qi to the brain and body, while simultaneously restoring its original source, the Kidney Yin, creating its supertonic reputation for both Qi and Jing. Polyrhachis Ant regulates Yin and Yang throughout the body and supports the regulatory functions of the immune system. The thymus gland is an important organ of the immune system and stimulates the production and replication of lymphocytes. Recent research demonstrates that Polyrhachis Ant can support the functions of the thymus gland.  Polyrhachis Ant is a source of zinc; it has the highest known content among all living organisms. Being a critical element in healthy human sexual function, zinc is known as the ‘harmonizing’ element in Japan, for its support of ‘harmonious relations’ between couples. Studies have shown that regular consumption of Polyrhachis Ant provides useable zinc. While supporting the balance and delivery of hormones within the body, Ant is NOT itself a source of hormones and can be safely consumed by both men and women, young and old.  Of over 400 known species of ants that have been studied in China alone, Polyrhachis vicina is the only species of Ant approved by the China Ministry of Public Health as a diet supplement. Polyrhachis vicina Ant contains more than 8 kinds of amino acids, crucial to the upkeep of a robust, resilient body. Polyrhachis Ant contains essential vitamins B1, B2, B12, D and E.  As much as 67% ofPolyrhachis vicina Ant’s dry weight is protein, and Polyrhachis Ant contains more than 20 trace elements such as magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, iron and selenium, as well as many essential enzymes. Polyrhachis Ant contains bioavailable ATP, providing energy directly and rapidly to the human body through intracellular transfer, and superoxide dismutase (SOD), a potent anti-oxidant enzyme. Polyrhachis Ant has shown to support liver functions. Ant has also been shown to support important normal immune functions that help maintain health. As a renowned Jing Yin tonic, Polyrhachis Ant strengthens the entire Kidney and adrenal system, supporting the musculoskeletal system, while also supporting sexual function. In Asia, Mountain Ant is considered an aphrodisiac (“Ginseng is the king of herbs, but Mountain Ant is the herb of kings”). Ant supports the nervous system, supports digestive functions and supports the natural moment-to-moment detoxifying functions throughout the body.  Polyrhachis Ant is known to increase the production of DNA and RNA within the cell itself. A unique set of aldehyde compounds found in Polyrhachis Ant is believed to contribute to the Ant’s unparalleled physical strength, known to be able to lift up to 100 times their own weight.  This aldehyde provides the great tonic action for the human body.* Traditional Function: Qi tonic, adaptogen* Who can use it?  Anybody seeking a powerful adaptogen. Ant tonics are popular as pre-workout elixirs. Dragon Herbs Dragon Herbs Deer Placenta 60caps 500mg
£55.00
Deer Placenta The quintessential Jing tonic   Placenta is an embryonic tissue formed during pregnancy from the cells of the fetus. The unique biological compounds in placenta ensure that the fetus is supplied with the necessary nutrients and oxygen needed for successful growth. Chinese antiaging and restorative formulations have often relied upon placenta as a primary ingredient in formulations designed to rejuvenate the body. Deer placenta has been accepted as the premier source of placenta. Deer is considered to be a “higher order” animal, and deer placenta very closely resembles human placenta chemically. It is extraordinarily nourishing and is completely safe to consume.     Jing and Placenta   To appreciate placenta, you have to understand Jing, our fundamental life force. Jing is the primal energy of life. It is closely associated with our genetic potential, and thus is intimately associated with the aging process. The quantity of Jing determines both our lifespan and the ultimate vitality of our life. We are given a certain amount of Jing by our parents when we are born. We deplete our Jing through our living. When we run low on Jing, we show the signs of aging, and when we run out of Jing, we die. Because of its original role of nurturing new life, placenta is considered to be the most profound substance for replenishing Jing. At conception, Jing of the mother and father merge and become one within the new fetal cell and this new life takes up residence in the womb.  This united essence creates an energy which forms the foundation of the new human being's life.  It is called pre-natal Jing.  During pregnancy, the fetus relies upon the mother to nurture and protect the pre-natal Jing.  The placenta is the source of this nourishment. Taking deer placenta as a deep Jing restorative supplement is like plugging yourself into the wall socket and recharging your life battery. Deer placenta provides certain substances that have been shown to have a profound positive influence on the aging process.   IGF-1 and Hyaluronic Acid IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor-1) is a protein that promotes tissue growth, organ health, and healthy blood sugar levels. Almost every cell in the human body is affected by IGF-1, especially cells in muscle, cartilage, bone, liver, kidney, nerves, skin, and lungs. In addition to the beneficial insulin-like effects, IGF-1 can also regulate cell growth and development, especially in nerve cells, as well as cellular DNA synthesis. IGF1 mediates most of the growth-promoting and metabolic effects of growth hormone. Our body's demand for IGF-1 never decreases, but aging is accompanied by a loss of IGF-1. As our IGF-1 levels decrease, the physical exuberance and vitality that accompany youthfulness also recede. IGF-1 is a natural constituent of deer placenta, where it is found in high levels (IGF-1 is also found in deer antler). It is assumed that the deer placenta IGF-1, being a very large molecule, when consumed orally, is digested in the small intestines and broken down into amino acids and other components. The complete set of components provided by deer placenta of the IGF-1 may be used by the body to enhance innate IGF-1 production. Deer placenta’s complete amino acid profile is extraordinarily close to that of humans. And deer placenta is rich in hyaluronic acid, an essential component in many tissues of the body. Hyaluronic acid helps to support healthy skin, eyesight and joint function. A 150 pound man has roughly half an ounce of hyaluronic acid in his body, one third of which is turned over (degraded and must be re-supplied or re-made) every day.     NEW ZEALAND, a Di Tao™ source of deer placenta New Zealand is free from the major animal diseases found throughout the world. These diseases include “Mad Cow” disease (bovine spongiform encephalopathy), foot and mouth disease, rabies, chronic wasting disease, etc. Dragon Herbs regards New Zealand to be a Di Tao™ source of deer placenta. Its pristine environment contributes greatly to the health and vitality of New Zealand deer. We only use placenta that has been certified by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry of Australian government for pharmaceutical purposes.   Traditional Function: Tonifies Yin Jing, Yang Jing, Blood and Qi    Who can use it? Adults   Concentration: 20:1 extract   Specifications: 60 capsules 500 mg each   Precautions: If you are under a doctor’s care for any pre-existing medical condition, consult your physician before using this or any dietary supplement   Ingredients: New Zealand Deer Placenta (Cervus Elephus placenta)   Other Ingredients: Rice powder   Usage As a restorative: As a dietary supplement, take Deer Placenta for 100 days, 2-3 capsules 2 times a day.
