The Herbs in Magu's Treasure
Deer Antler Tips
Deer Antler is widely believed in the Orient to strengthen all aspects of a person's life, and is considered to be an ultimate primal essence (Jing) tonic. It is said to be a warm Yang tonic, although it is also known to contain Yin essence and is a major blood tonic. Extracts of Deer Antler have been found to strengthen the central nervous system and the heart. Deer Antler is believed to strengthen the mind and to enliven the Spirit (Shen). It is also widely used to improve mental power. Deer Antler contains many natural minerals and other nutrients. Deer Antler is the most precious and the most potent of the substances that fortify the Yang energy of the Kidney, Yang Jing. It is widely used in Asia to strengthen adrenal, reproductive and brain functions. It is universally believed in the Orient to build sexual strength and to increase virility and fertility. Deer antler is used to build blood and improve circulation. Deer antler has been found to benefit the cardiovascular system. Deer antler is tonic to the marrow, which produces blood, including our white and red blood cells. Marrow tends to degenerate as we age and deer antler is believed to slow down or reverse this process. This is a major aspect of deer antler’s youth preserving ability. Overall, deer antler is mainly used as a rejuvenating agent. Short term use is believed to quickly build strength and power, while consistent long-term use is believed to re-build deep life force, preserve youthfulness or even reverse aging, and to enhance longevity. Deer are not generally killed for their antler. The soft antler of the deer is removed from the deer when it has grown just two or three spikes and is still covered by velvet. The deer grows new antlers that same season, which are not harvested. The tip of the antler is the most potent part because it contains the most active substances.
Deer Placenta
Because of its role in nurturing new life, Placenta is considered to be the most profound substance for replenishing Yin and Yang Jing and blood. Deer Placenta is also considered to be a major Qi tonic. It is the dominant ingredient in many of the greatest "restorative" formulations, where quick and powerful replenishment is required. Deer Placenta (a 20:1 concentrated extract) is the preferred source of Placenta at this time. Deer Placenta is prepared by high-technology pharmaceutical factories in New Zealand from certified clean healthy deer.
Pearl
Pearl has a tremendous reputation in China as both a beauty tonic and as a Shen tonic. Recent Chinese medical texts credit pearl with the ability to clarify the skin, relieve uneasiness of the heart and mind, to benefit reproduction, to relieve “wandering arthritis,” to relieve internal fever, to clear sputum, to remove visual obstacles and improve eyesight, to promote muscle development and to invigorate blood circulation.
As a beauty tonic, pearl is hard to beat. The components in pearl powder help heal blemishes and maintain the health of the skin by participating in the metabolic activities of the skin. Pearl promotes the regeneration of new cells and makes the skin smooth, fine, elastic and naturally beautiful. High quality pearl powder can promote the activities of the important natural antioxidant enzyme known as SOD, and can help prevent the development of melanin, which causes freckles and dark patches on the skin. It can help prevent the skin from becoming old looking, wrinkled and sagging. This is partly due to its stimulation of SOD activity and partly due to other capacities and nutrients. Consistent use of pearl powder can eliminate blemishes such as colored spots and even pimples and boils. Constant use can help assure that the skin will age much more slowly and that it will not be easily harmed by either time or the elements. Pearl is one of the great secrets of the most beautiful women of the Orient.
Pearl is also a powerful Shen stabilizer. It is among the elite substances of this type known. It can relieve uneasiness, nervousness, anxiety and tension. Pearl promotes sound sleep, prevents nerve-disorders and nerve weakness, and is commonly used to prevent or overcome fatigue. Consistent use helps a person maintain their energy and vitality. It is an ideal Shen tonic and is the main ingredient in the finest Shen tonic formulations. Pearl contains dozens of minerals, including: calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, strontium, copper, selenium, silicon, titanium, and more. Pearl contains calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, calcium phosphate, ferric oxide, silica. But to many people’s surprise, pearl is not just made up of minerals. Pearl contains many amino acids (eight of the amino acids are “essential” – in other words, they cannot be produced in the body but are required for health). Various components inPearl participate in DNA and RNA metabolic activities, and thus can promote and accelerate cell renewal. Mucopolysaccharides inPearl have been shown to prevent wrinkling and to increase libido and sexual potency in humans.
Royal Jelly
Royal Jelly is natural food substance produced by worker bees for their queen. This incredibly nutritious whole food is rich in a very broad spectrum of important vitamins, minerals and other substances essential to radiant health. Royal Jelly is believed to be an important beauty aid and is said to beautify the skin, eyes and hair. It is widely available in many commercially prepared products, or it can be obtained fresh, straight from the hive. Fresh Royal Jelly can have profound health benefits.
White Peony Root
White Peony root is an important blood tonic used to relax muscle and cleanse the blood. It is one of the most highly prized women's herbs used traditionally to help regulate the female hormonal cycle and to tonify and purify the blood. It is also used as a pain reducing agent and as an emotional stabilizer by women. It is said to help relieve cramps and spasms anywhere in the body. In particular, it is considered to be highly effective in relieving menstrual cramps. Peony root is also believed to extend life and to promote beauty. An old Chinese saying states that "a woman who consumes Peony root regularly becomes as beautiful as the Peony flower itself."
Longan Fruit
Longan is a wonderful and delicious tonic fruit used as a superior blood tonic, to nurture the heart, and to add luster and beauty to the skin. It is believed among Chinese women that Longan is not only a great tonic for the skin, but is also a fantastic sex tonic. For that reason, Longan is considered as a special tonic for women who wish to be both beautiful and sexually active — it has a 2000 year reputation as a love tonic. It is said that the most beautiful woman in the history of China, Yang Kuei Fei consumed Longan every day. It is believed to have a calming effect and to add radiance to the eyes.
Schizandra Berry
Schizandra is a famous tonic historically consumed by Chinese royalty and by Taoist masters. It is one of the few herbs thatcontains all three treasures. Schizandra is renowned as a beauty tonic and is considered to be a youth preserving herb. It has been used for centuries to make the skin soft, moist and radiant. It is also said to be a powerful tonic to the brain and mind, and is believed in China to improve memory. It is also said to be an excellent sexual tonic when consumed regularly. It is said to help produce abundant sexual fluids, increase sexual endurance and to strengthen the whole body. It is used in many tonic formulations as an "astringent." Schizandra has a wonderful multi layered flavor when processed properly.
Schizandra develops the primary energies of life, and generates vitality and radiant beauty when used regularly for some time. If used for 100 days successively, Schizandra is said to purify the blood, sharpen the mind, improve memory, rejuvenate the Kidney energy (especially the sexual functions in both men and women), and cause the skin to become radiantly beautiful.
The Taoists especially revered Schizandra. This is because Schizandra contains all five elemental energies in abundance, contains all three treasures in abundance, and enters all twelve meridians. It is considered it to be the quintessential herbal substance. Women who practiced Taoist lovemaking practices for the purpose of retaining the youth and beauty all consumed Schizandra daily.
Schizandra is said to increase the Water Qi in the Kidney. In particular, it is said to vastly increase the “water of the genital organs,” referring to the sexual fluids. It is famous for its ability to relieve sexual fatigue. Schizandra is also said to increase circulation in and sensitivity of the female genitals. Many women claim increased genital warmth and sensation after using Schizandra for a period of time. The Chinese sexual classics claim that continuous use by a woman will increase the amount of “female elixir,” a euphemism for vaginal secretions, during intercourse. Schizandra is considered to have “aphrodisiac” qualities, especially when combined with other Kidney tonics. Furthermore, Schizandra is one of the most important astringent herbs used in Chinese herbalism. An astringent herb conserves fluids, and in the case of Schizandra, it tends to contain sexual fluids until the appropriate time of release. Thus, consuming Schizandra for a period of time, one tends to build up sexual fluids.
Schizandra is widely used to beautify the skin and to protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun and wind. Due to the astringent quality of Schizandra, the skin tends to hold its moisture and becomes full and beautiful. It has always been very popular with the wealthy men and women of China because of its youth preserving and rejuvenating effects. I have seen the benefits of this herb with my own eyes hundreds of times in my life. People who start taking Schizandra regularly all change for the better. Their skin virtually glows and becomes clear and fine after several months.
This herb is considered to be one of the premium mind tonics of herbalism. It is used to sharpen concentration, improve memory and increase alertness. Yet, unlike caffeine-like stimulants, Schizandra does not produce nervousness. In fact, some people consider Schizandra mildly “calming” while producing wakefulness and improved focus. It has been demonstrated that human intellectual activity can be enhanced and work efficiency increased by consuming Schizandra. Various tests have shown that moderate therapeutic doses of Schizandra can improve various activities requiring concentration, fine coordination, sensitivity and endurance. The tests in humans confirming Schizandra’s efficacy in these areas range from threading needles to running marathons.
Dang Gui Root
Dang Gui (Tang Kwei or Angelica sinensis) is used as a superb blood tonic. It is also an important blood-vitalizing herb (e.g., it improves blood circulation). Dang Gui is most famous as a women's tonic, because women so often use it as a blood tonic and to regulate the female menstrual cycle. It is found in most women's tonic preparations.
Cynomorium Root
Cynomorium is considered to be a superb tonic to the primal Yang essence and is thus used in many tonics for both men and women. It is widely believed in the Orient to be a superb longevity herb and an excellent sexual tonic and stimulant. It is said to strengthen the bones. It is an especially excellent Yang tonic for women since it is also an anti-aging, moistening herb that fosters beautiful skin. Many women feel that it is a fabulous sex tonic (even an aphrodisiac).
Lycium Fruit (Goji Berry)
This delicious fruit is very widely used as an excellent Yin Jing and blood tonic. Regular consumption of Lycium is traditionally believed to lead to a long and happy life. It is said that prolonged consumption of Lycium will promote cheerfulness and vitality. Lycium is also said to brighten the eyes and improve vision. It is said that Lycium strengthens the legs and enhances sexual function. Lycium fruit contains polysaccharides that have been demonstrated to strongly fortify the immune system. Lycium is also very rich in vitamin C and in B vitamins. Furthermore, it is the richest source of carotenoids, including beta carotene, of all known plants on earth and is thus a powerful antioxidant. It is a very great woman's herb.
Codonopsis
Codonopsis is one of the most famous and widely used Chinese tonic herbs. It is very mild and without any side effects, yet it is a superb Qi tonic. It invigorates the Spleen and Lung functions so that Qi is replenished and it promotes the production of body fluids. Codonopsis is also an excellent blood tonic and a major immune system tonic. It is believed to have an action similar to that of Ginseng, but milder. Its blood building quality makes it especially good for people who are weakened due to illness, and by women, since women lose blood regularly. Codonopsis is extremely effective at relieving chronic fatigue. It is used in women's formulations to build blood. Since many women are slightly blood deficient, this is an important quality of the herbs that women should consume. Codonopsis is mild yet it has powerful strengthening effects, especially on the digestive, respiratory and immune systems. It is rich in immune stimulating polysaccharides that are beneficial to everyone.

Dragon Herbs
Dragon Herbs Changbai Deer Antler Drops 2fl oz (60ml)
£80.00
Deer Antler Drops
Deer Antler is considered to be one of the "big three" ultimate “herbs” (dietary supplements) of China - Ginseng, Reishi Mushroom and Deer Antler. All three are tonic herbs that have been used since pre-historic times to prolong life, improve energy, to protect the body and to promote wisdom. They are not used to treat any kind of ailment, but to support normal healthy life functions so as to promote wellbeing and longevity. Deer Antler is a Yang Jing herb, but it also tonifies Yin Jing, Qi, Blood and Shen. It therefore tonifies all three Treasures.
Deer Antler contains mucopolysaccharides that promote the regeneration the antler tissue in the deer. This same substance supports regeneration of tissue to those who consume it.
Deer Antler extract is considered to be the most powerful Yang tonic dietary supplement and is usually the main herb in any formula in which it is included. Deer Antler is used by athletes to support muscular strength. Deer Antler extract consumed as a dietary supplement supports the human in vivo production of IGF-1, a vital substance closely related to human growth hormone that regulates metabolism and hormone functions.
Deer Antler extract is used to support the skeletal structure, especially the back and knees. Deer Antler helps support cartilage and joint function.
As a dietary supplement that supports neurological functions, Deer Antler extract is also widely used to support mental power.
Deer antler has also been demonstrated to support cardiovascular function.
Deer Antler extract contains hyaluronic acid, a natural substance, also produced in the human body, that maintains elasticity of the skin and connective tissue.
Deer Antler is also well known as a sexual tonic for both men and women. Deer Antler is suitable to both men and women, though men will generally consume Deer Antler in larger quantities. It is a Yang tonic that helps restore sexual vigor and performance for decreased sexual function associated with aging.
Why Dragon Herbs Deer Antler Drops is Unique
Dragon Herbs Deer Antler is a unique product in the U.S. market. There are dozens of other “deer velvet” products available, but Dragon Herbs Deer Antler Drops is the ONLY product made ENTIRELY from Deer Antler tips. What does that mean? And what does that mean for you?
Deer Antler grows from its “tips.” As it grows, the soft body of the antler hardens, while the growing tip remains soft and bio-chemically rich. It is just like the fresh leaves at the tip of a growing plant. It has been estimated that 90% of the biologically active constituents of the ENTIRE antler is contained in just the last inch of the antler, known as the "tip," even if the antler is 18 inches long. The tip of the antler is of course more expensive than the lower parts of the antler, because those deep into the trade know that this is the most valuable part. This has been true for a thousand years. However, since the tip contains most of the active constituents of the entire antler, it is in fact a fabulous value. It may cost three times as much, but it is at least 10 times as potent. Again, Dragon Herbs ONLY uses tips (the soft last inch of the deer antler) to make its Deer Antler products, including Deer Antler Drops. We never use the "middles" or "bottoms" of the antler since these parts are hardened, dry and lack the chemical components that make Deer Antler biologically active in humans.
Unfortunately for consumers, other companies are now putting the word “tips” on their description of deer antler. They are doing this in response to Dragon Herbs educating the public about the differences in deer antler products. However, they show no evidence of actually using tips.
A deer antler, as sold in a Chinese herb shop, is divided into three divisions, tips, middles and bottoms. That part growing closest to the end, usually the last inch of each branch of the antler, is called the tip. The segment from that beginning of the tip to the fork of the antler is called the middle and the main trunk of the antler is called the bottom. All three segments of the deer antler are used in Chinese tonic herbalism. The bottoms, because they are the largest segment, are most commonly available and most widely used in commercial products. The middles and tips are generally only available in herb shops, except in rare products that feature these segments.
A Note about the Deer
Dragon Herbs deer are farmed in Changbai Mountain, and are certified by the Chinese Ministry of Health to be clean and safe. Since the deer are so valuable and since deer antler is essentially a renewable “crop,” deer are highly protected in all Asian countries. They thrive under the conditions established. The antler is cut off the live deer when the antler has developed either two or three branches, yet remains relatively soft (depending on the part of the antler) and covered by “velvet,” usually in the month of June in China.
The Dragon Herbs team has visited the deer farm of our supplier in a beautiful valley on the Western slope of Changbai Mountain, a volcanic region in Manchuria, on many occasions and can testify that the deer are in fantastic health and are well cared-for. The deer are fed their favorite natural diet, including mulberry leaves, their favorite food. The deer are housed in clean open sheds with corrals where they have 24/7 opportunity to move about and eat. They are allowed to run freely in the hills associated with the farm during the day, and at night return to the protected housing where they are kept safe from predators (wolves and large cats).
The deer used by Dragon Herbs are NOT killed to harvest their antlers. The antlers are humanely and painlessly collected from male deer in the early summer – when the antler is about six weeks old and still covered in a coat of “velvet” – females do not produce antler, except for elk, which Dragon Herbs does not use. After this harvesting, the deer then grow new antlers as the season progresses and this second set of antler is not harvested. Because the antlers that do grow into the fall are smaller, the male deer tend to fight considerably less. The life expectancy of the male deer from whom the antler are collected is significantly longer than that of wild deer, who often die as a result of excessive male-with-male libido-driven fighting and from starvation. Far more of the male deer mate as a result of this process, which makes them very happy indeed. Deer are highly valued in the Chinese culture and are respected and loved by their care givers. Deer are considered in Asia to be a “higher order” animal.
Quality - Different Species, Different Results
Selecting high quality deer antler is an art. There are many sources, grades, cuts and qualities --- and there are counterfeits. The antler plays a major part in male sexual role of the male deer. Larger antlers are produced by deer that are more sexual and this deer antler is more potent. However, size alone will tell you only a little about the quality of a selection of deer antler. Dragon Herbs has used the same established source of deer antler tips for many years.
Deer Antler can have a number of origins. Deer Antler entering the American market may originate in China, Russia, Mongolia, Alaska or New Zealand. All of these places have robust Deer Antler businesses. They all produce excellent deer; however, the quality will differ depending on the processing and the variety of deer.
Sika Deer is considered to be the best deer antler, but it is rare. These are small spotted deer that are natural to northeastern Asia. This kind of deer has been absolutely revered in Asia for its deer antler since ancient times. Over hunting reduced the supply to nearly zero, but they are now humanely farmed in northeastern China and their antler is again available in limited quantities. This deer is also known in China as the “spotted deer” and as the “flower deer,” since their white spots are actually shaped like a flower. You will see the Sika deer alongside Shou Lao, the God of Longevity, in old Chinese paintings, and also alongside Magu, the Goddess of Youth and Beauty. The symbolism is obvious. The Sika is a small deer and its antlers are likewise small. But small is not the issue, potency is. These deer are extremely well cared-for. This is the most valuable antler in the world.
Previously, Dragon Herbs only used Sika Deer Antler in its private reserve productions, but now it is available to everyone, so long as it is available each year.
And remember, the tips are by far the most precious and most expensive part of the deer antler. Due to our on-the-ground connections in Asia, we can provide this premium quality Deer Antler at the same price, or lower, than inferior products.
And remember, these deer are protected and live an astounding life. These deer live longer than fully wild deer. They are allowed to roam free during the daytime in local hills and forests, and then they return to their shelter at night where they are fed mulberry leaves, their favorite food. Do not fear for our deer, they have it very good.
Mallow Deer, also known as the “horse deer,” is another popular variety of deer from which their antler is harvested. This is the most common variety of deer antler available in China. It is very good (but not as good as Sika deer antler). Mallow deer farms are abundant in northeast China. These very hardy, very large deer (thus the name “horse deer”) produce large antlers and therefore are valuable to the farmers on a pound-by-pound basis. These deer are well cared-for.
Red Deer from New Zealand is commonly sold in the U.S. market. New Zealand is a very special place. It is clean and its government keeps it that way. Deer farming is a big industry in New Zealand. Red deer produce quality antler, though not as potent as the antler from Sika or Mallow deer. These deer are very well cared-for. A large number of the New Zealand deer are slaughtered for their meat, which is consumed in Australia and exported overseas. The deer are not nearly as protected in New Zealand as they are in China.
Dragon Herbs has established a permanent relationship with a Sika Deer cooperative in Changbai Mountain. Currently, due to our good fortune, Dragon Herbs only uses Sika Deer to produce all of its Deer Antler products, including Deer Antler Drops. And from these Sika Deer, we only use tips cut from the last ¾ inch of the antler.
This is why Dragon Herbs Deer Antler Drops is a unique deer antler product in the American market.

Uses
Deer Antler is the most precious and the most potent of the substances that fortify the yang energy of the Kidney. Deer antler is widely used in Asia, and now throughout the world, to support adrenal, reproductive and brain functions. It is universally believed in the Orient to support sexual strength and to support virility and fertility. In the highly regarded tenth century Taoist manual on health and sexual conduct, The Essence of Medical Prescriptions, compiled by a Chinese physician living in Japan by the name of TambaYasuyori, it was said that:
“There is nothing better than deer antler to cause a man to be robust and unaffected by age, not to tire in the bedroom, and not to deteriorate either in energy or in facial coloration.”
Deer antler is commonly used in combination with most of the major Qi tonic herbs such as Ginseng and Astragalus, and with all of the major Yin and Yang Jing-building herbs such as Goji Berry, Morinda root, He Shou Wu, Epimedium (Horny Goat Weed), Schizandra, Mountain Ant, etc.
Although deer antler has always been used to help build blood and support blood circulation, modern research has supported deer antler’s reputation as a heart tonic. Particularly the alcohol extract of deer antler is consumed for this purpose. Deer antler is tonic to the marrow, which produces blood. Marrow tends to degenerate as we age and deer antler is believed to support marrow maintenance. This may be a major aspect of deer antler’s youth preserving ability.
Consistent long-term use is believed to re-build deep life force, preserve youthfulness and to enhance longevity.
Scientific Knowledge
Deer antler is a rare type of organ in the higher animal kingdom. It is one of the few complex organ structures which regenerates in an annual rhythm and which will regenerate if shed, cut or broken off. This regenerative power is what has most intrigued scientists in recent years, just as it has the Asian people through the ages.
Studies conducted in Europe indicate that the ability to regenerate is partially due to the rich supply of substances known as ectosaponins. These complex chemical agents are found more abundantly in lower animals, in which the ectosaponins cause a wide variety of tissues to regenerate. The ectosaponin in deer antler is very similar to ectosaponins found at the tail bases of many lizards, such as the Gecko lizard, and in the legs of star fish. If the tale is broken off a Gecko or similar lizard or the appendages broken off a starfish, these appendages re-grow --- bone, connective tissue, nerves, blood vessels, flesh and all (no bones in star fishes). The ectosaponins extracted from deer antler, as well as from Gecko and star fish all have shown remarkable regenerative effects on all types of tissue, including nerve tissue, which generally does not regenerate significantly.
Research indicates that moderate doses of the alcohol extract of deer antler supports cardiovascular function by helping to support cardio-regulatory mechanisms, and by supporting circulation.
Numerous studies done in China, Japan, Russia and Korea have shown that deer antler supports muscular and mental endurance, supports sleep and supports normal appetite. Deer antler has been shown to support the oxygen uptake of the brain, liver and kidneys in laboratory animals. It also supports red and white blood cell production in laboratory animals.
Deer antler extract provides minerals, amino acids, and other nutrients.
Deer antler supports insulin-like growth factor IGF-1 functions in the human body.
• IGF-1 supports immune functions
• IGF-1 supports muscular the metabolic functions that provide strength and endurance
• IGF-1 supports normal growth
• IGF-1 supports cardiovascular functioning
• IGF-1 supports sleep functions

Dragon Herbs Super Adaptogen 100caps (500mg)

Super Adaptogen
If someone were to take just one formula, this could be the one. This is a full spectrum adaptogenic formula that nurtures all Three Treasures, Jing, Qi and Shen. An adaptogen is a substance that helps bring the body into a state of harmony with its environment by inducing chemical, cellular, and systemic balance as a response to the changes in the environment. This harmonizing function reduces the effects of unfavorable conditions and stimulates the body's own immune and healing functions. Adaptogenic substances help the body to adapt to various stressful challenges presented by the environment and reduce the damage inflicted on the body through the normal process of adaptation. Adaptability is the measure of life for all plants and animals, and it is the measure of a human’s life as well. Adaptogens tend to support the body’s own ability to cope successfully with stress, thus promoting wellbeing.Super Adaptogen contains many of the most potent tonic herbs in the world. Super Adaptogen nurtures all three treasures, and in particular, it tonifies the adaptive Qi. However, this is definitely a complete tonic formulation.*
This formula contains most of the super-adaptogens, and provides an abundance of adaptogenic phytochemicals and phytonutrients.
Adaptability Enhancement
We human beings are intimately interconnected with our environment. Any change in the environment influences us both physically and psychically. How we handle such changes, how we adapt to the changes in our environment and to the stresses of life, will be the determining factor in our health and well-being. Conversely, as we change, the environment around us will be influenced and will reflect our changes. The greatness of Oriental natural philosophy lies, to a great degree, in its subtlety and breadth of vision with regard to the connection between the human being and their environment. The tonic herbalist recognizes such environmental influences as the change of seasons – the wind, heat, cold, dryness, moisture, and so on – as fundamental factors in one's health.
Adaptability requires energy. The greater the stresses of life and the more dynamic the changes in one's life, the greater the requirement for adaptive energy. The very purpose of using Chinese tonic herbs is to aid the body-mind in its adaptive needs. The greatness of the Chinese tonic herbs lies in their adaptogenic quality; that is, their ability to enhance the body-mind's capacity to adapt optimally, accurately and with endurance, to changes in the environment, and thus to overcome the stresses of life.
By replenishing the energy of the cells, tissues and systems that regulate our adaptability, we find ourselves capable of experiencing life at its fullest. We find ourselves with increased physical, mental and emotional endurance. We find ourselves easily handling stresses that would exhaust others. We find ourselves to be resilient on every level. This adaptability allows us to lead a rich, broad, adventurous life.
When the body is working very well, we automatically adapt accurately. This is part of the miraculous self-regulatory mechanismsbuilt into every cell of our bodies. This accurate adaptability is a key to radiant health. When you are radiantly healthy, nothing will bother you. If it’s very hot, your body adjusts and you feel just fine. If it’s cold, you adapt to that. People who adapt easily tend to be successful at life. But stress depletes this adaptive energy. Eventually, as we age or face life’s challenges, we may not have enough adaptive Qi, and we start to misadjust. In addition, as we become less capable of adapting, we become more and more aware of the stress and a vicious cycle occurs.
The Chinese tonic herbs are among the best tools on earth for combating stress. Obviously, it is better to avoid stress in the first place, or at least to submit ourselves to a minimum. Along with meditation, yoga and deep breathing techniques, Chinese tonic herbs are the perfect natural way to help deal with stress. The herbs should not be taken like drugs to overcome stress. Tonics aren’t meant to be used like that. Adaptogenic tonic herbs are true dietary supplements that help the body to maintain balance under stressful conditions. By taking the adaptogenic herbs continuously, even when stressful factors are not strong, we can handle stress more easily and overcome our problems with less agitation.
It takes energy to handle stressful events and forces. The tonic herbs provide that energy. If you are in a weakened condition and a stressful event occurs, of course you will feel more vulnerable and more stressed than if you had plenty of energy to deal with the problem. That is natural. The point, then, is to never run out of adaptive energy – always have reserve energy so that when stress peaks you can deal with it without exhausting yourself.
The Primary Adaptogenic Herbs that Help You Fight Stress of Life
All of the herbs used in Chinese tonic herbalism contribute to our adaptability. That is the very nature of a “superior herb.” But some herbs have special reputations for helping people adapt and to handle stress in a superior way. Here are the super-adaptogens, the tonic herbs that everybody should be taking to protect themselves from stress. Furthermore, all of the herbs in this powerful formula are immune modulators, which means that these herbs can be used by anyone to support their normal healthy immune functions.
The Herbs in Super Adaptogen
Tibetan Rhodiola Root
Tibetan Rhodiola is an extraordinary herb. It is a rare herb that grows in one of the harshest environments in the world. In the Orient, it is called “Plateau Ginseng,” and the Tibetans considered Rhodiola to be a sacred herb. It has been used by the Tibetan people as a powerful adaptogenic vitalizer since the beginning of Tibetan civilization. Rhodiola has also been prized by the Chinese for over two thousand years ago. It is regarded as a life-prolonging, wisdom enhancing “superior herb.” However, the rarity of TibetanRhodiola has prevented it from becoming a well-known commodity outside of Asia until now. A relative known as Rhodiola rosea, from Russia, has become popular in popular herbalism because it can be cultivated and thus is much more available, but TibetanRhodiola is considered far superior in Asia. Tibetan Rhodiola is a superb herb for people who work very hard, either physically or mentally. Tibetan Rhodiola has been shown to improve endurance and mental capacity, including memory enhancement. It has been shown to be a superb tonic and energizer for those into physical fitness, and a superior tonic for those stuck behind a desk or at a computer terminal for long periods of time. Consumption of a small amount of Rhodiola extract significantly improves a person’s capacity to absorb and utilize oxygen. Tibetan Rhodiola is especially beneficial to those who live under stressful conditions. It has been shown that Tibetan Rhodiola reduces the body’s stress reactions, and thus relieves moderate mental stress as well. People stay focused and suffer far less from fatigue even under stress. It is the ideal herbal supplement for the modern world. It also supports immune functions.
Ginseng Root
Asian Panax Ginseng has been known for its ability to help people handle stress for thousands of years, and is now used by millions of people to help handle stress more effectively. Ginseng may be consumed on a regular basis so that when stress occurs, the body and mind are fully energized and ready. Asian Ginseng is a quintessential energizer, but also relieves common anxiety.
Gynostemma Leaf
Gynostemma is a quintessential adaptogenic herb. Gynostemma contains over 100 saponins that contribute to the adaptability of any individual who consumes it. Gynostemma eases tension and builds energy. It has general, safe, inflammo-regulatory action throughout the body without causing any side-effects. It has no medical benefits for any medical conditions, but helps maintain and support immune balance.
Eleuthero Root (Siberian Ginseng)
Eleuthero is the equal of Ginseng in its adaptogenic capabilities. Some authorities think it is stronger. Eleuthero, which is also known as Siberian Ginseng, contains saponins which support the nervous system and endocrine system. It is an immune modulator (supports normal, balanced immune functions). It is an excellent mind tonic.
Astragalus Root
Astragalus Root is one of the most powerful natural agents in the world at regulating the functions of the body. It is a fundamental Qitonic and should be a part of any adaptogenic, anti-stress formula. In fact it is a quintessential double-directional herb, one that helps regulate the immune system. It is a superb adaptogen.
Reishi Mushroom
Reishi Mushroom is the perfect herb for these times. It is strengthening, protective and calming to the nerves. It is both a potent Qitonic and the ultimate Shen tonic. It is the perfect anti-stress herb. It helps to center you. When you’re taking Reishi you feel adaptive and you feel protected. Super Adaptogen is made with genuine “log-grown” Duanwood Reishi fruiting bodies.
Goji Berry
Goji provides the reserve energy necessary to handle just about any difficulty. It is said traditionally that constant consumption ofGoji will beget a cheerful attitude, and there’s nothing like good cheer to overcome stress. Goji, like the other super-tonicadaptogens, helps make you strong, relaxed and resilient.
Eucommia Bark
Eucommia is a superb Jing tonic, used to strengthen the back (especially the lower back), skeleton, and joints (especially the knees and ankles). Eucommia is believed to confer strength and flexibility to the ligaments and tendons. It is often used by martial artists, yoga practitioners, Qigong practitioners, and other athletes to strengthen the back, knees, and the entire body. Eucommia is widely used in China as a safe and effective sex tonic for men and women. It provides powerful and safe fundamental adaptive energy to the body.
He Shou Wu (Polygonum multiflorum)
Constant consumption of this famous "longevity herb," whose full Latin name is Polygonum multiflorum, is said in the Orient to help “return an aging person to youthfulness and to keep a young person young.” It is an unsurpassed Yin Jing tonic, as well as a major blood tonic. It is said to increase energy and to clean the blood. As an Jing tonic, it is believed to be a powerful sexual tonic when consumed regularly. He Shou Wu supports sperm production in men and supports fertility in women. It is used in almost all tonics that are believed in the Orient to nurture the hair and teeth. This herb has been consumed by almost every Taoist that has lived for the past five hundred years, and is fundamental to the practice of the Taoist inner arts.
Schizandra Berry
Schizandra is a major adaptogenic herb. Schizandra helps keep you relaxed and alert and supports the nervous system. Schizandra is considered to be one of the premium mind tonics of herbalism. It is used to support concentration, memory and alertness. Yet, unlike caffeine-like stimulants, Schizandra does not produce nervousness. In fact, Schizandra is mildly “calming” while producing wakefulness and mental focus.
Steamed Rehmannia Root
Steamed Rehmannia is said to be the “Kidney’s own food." It is a Kidney tonic found in many formulations for rejuvenation and longevity. It is also considered a premium blood tonic and is said to benefit sexual functions in men and women. SteamedRehmannia is said to be warm in nature.
Polygonatum sibericum Root
Polygonatum Root is a Qi and Yin Jing tonic that is said to have a specific benefit on the brain. It is restorative to mental vitality, especially when the mind has become fatigued from work. It is often used in Shen and Jing tonics to nourish the brain and support the mind. This herb has been very popular among Taoists and all Qigong practitioners because of its supportive effect on the brain.
White Atractylodes Root
White Atractylodes is an important and potent Qi tonic that is famous for regulating the digestive functions and as a powerful energy booster.
Jujube Date
This special tonic fruit has been used since ancient times as a tonic, a blood cleanser, and as an important adjunctive herb to other tonics. Jujube is universally believed in the Orient to build strength and increase energy. Jujube supports healthy energy flow.
Ginkgo Leaf
Ginkgo is used to support blood circulation. The leaves of the Ginkgo tree are used in the Orient to "benefit the brain," by supporting memory and the ability to concentrate. It is now known that Ginkgo leaf extract supports oxygen supply to the brain and other organs, including the genitals and skin. It is traditionally used to support the heart and lungs.
Licorice Root
Licorice Root is an important tonic herb that harmonizes all the ingredients in any formula. It detoxifies the body and is a powerfuladaptogenic herb.*

Dragon Herbs
Dragon Herbs Wild Siberian Chaga 100caps (500mg)
£27.50
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus (persoon) Pilat) is a highly prized tonic mushroom (fungal mass). It is said to have many beneficial health functions, especially as an immune modulating tonic agent. It is found growing wild in old birch forests throughout the colder regions of the northern hemisphere, and has been well documented in Northern Asia and Northern Europe. Chaga has long been used in traditional Siberian, Korean, Chinese, north European and Scandinavian herbalism, especially Russian herbalism. Chaga has also been found in northern forests of America. The highest form or "superior grade" Chaga can only be found in locations with harsh wintery conditions where the temperature drops below minus(-) 40 degrees C. That is very cold. Premium Chaga is now being collected from the vast forests of Russian Siberia, where it grows abundantly. Ideal conditions exist in the pre-polar, northern, central and Arctic Urals as well as the Caucasus Mountains. This Chaga is referred to as "Siberian Chaga." Chaga is comprised of two visually distinguishable parts: a black part (outside) and an orange part (inside). These are generally classified as the fruiting body and sclerotium, respectively. Chaga does not produce an extended "fruiting body" ("mushroom") like that of Reishi mushroom. Typically Chaga is a blackish irregular shape, or "sclerotial conk." The "black" (very dark brown) skin (or "fruiting body") is rich in melanin. It takes about 10—15 years of parasitism to become large enough to be called "Chaga." From this age on, the fungus can be used for tonic and medicinal preparations. Some commercial growers of Chaga in Myanmar can "grow" Chaga to a pretty large size in just a few years, but it has weak biological activity. Chaga is a "slow growth fungus" and requires the years of growth to attain a certain maturity and biological complexity. Recently, many reports have been published concerning the health promoting functions of Chaga, including protection of DNA damage from oxidative stress, and anti-inflammatory activity throughout the body. Dragon Herbs Chaga is collected wild, from remote, pristine black birch forests in the Kama River Basin of arctic Siberia, considered the premier source in the world for Chaga (Di Tao), and all Chaga mushrooms used to produce Dragon Herbs Wild Siberian Chaga are at least 20 years old at the time of collection. It has been well established that Chaga older than 20 years has both superior chemistry and superior benefit to human consumers. Siberian Chaga has been used for at least six hundred years in Russia, according to records, and probably much longer. It is considered to be a virtually miraculous herb by indigenous Siberians. There have been attempts at cultivating Chaga, but the results have so far been disappointing to pharmaceutical companies. Attempts for culturing this fungus axenically (under sterile conditions) have all resulted in a reduced production of bioactive metabolites. Wild Chaga is the way to go at this time.
There's Plenty of Chaga Science
You don't have to understand (or even read) all of the following science to appreciate the fact that there is currently a lot of research being conducted on Chaga. Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) has long been used as a folk medicine due to its numerous biological functions such as antibacterial, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidative activities. Recently, a large amount of research has been, and continues to be done, onInonotus obliquus (Chaga). Russian and Scandinavian scientists had conducted most of the scientific research on this powerful herb in the last century. More recently however, Japanese, Korean and Chinese researchers are doing much of the scientific heavy lifting. Traditionally, Asian herbalists believed that Chaga "preserves youthfulness, promotes health, and promotes longevity." Because of its potent protective qualities and high degree of safety, it is designated as a “superior herb.” It is categorized as a Qi tonic, like Reishi mushroom. It is also considered to be a superb Kidney tonic and cleanser. It is also used as a remedial herb every place that it is collected. Chaga contains a multitude of active constituents and cofactors, many of which are currently being investigated for their potential health benefits. Research has supported the folk evidence that Chaga possesses potent immune supporting actions. Chaga is a rich source of β-glucans, especially 1-3-β-glucans, polysaccharides that are quintessential nutrients for the immune system. These polysaccharides have strong anti-inflammatory and immune balancing properties, enhancing the body’s ability to produce natural killer (NK) cells to battle infections. These polysaccharides are considered to be the primary active constituents of Chaga, at least from an immunological perspective. And upon ingestion, a range of secondary metabolites are produced, many of which are highly active as potent immune modulators. Chaga Polysaccharides effectively promote macrophage (white blood cell) activation through the MAPK and NF-ĸB signaling pathways, suggesting that Chaga Polysaccharides help regulate the immune response. The effectiveness of Chaga as an antiviral agent (as tested on West Nile virus and Herpes Simplex type 2 virus) has been shown to be dose dependent on the quantity of Chaga Polysaccharides present or their concentration. The antiviral results proved Chaga to be a very potent antiviral agent (rendering the viruses "completely inhibited." This is why Chaga Polysaccharides content is set at such a high level in Dragon Herbs Wild Siberian Chaga -- not less than 30%. Chaga is a VERY powerful antioxidant. Two natural antioxidants, named inonotusin A and B have been isolated from the methanolic (alcohol) extract of the outer layer of Chaga, together with a molecule named DBL (3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde). More about DBL in a moment. Studies indicate that Chaga is a potent free radical scavenger, far stronger than any other popular dietary antioxidant, including blueberries, goji, resveratrol and acai. Chaga contains a range of important active constituents including the polysaccharides described above (at least 30% Chaga Polysaccharides by analysis in this product - these polysaccharides have powerful immunological and antioxidant activity), phenolic compounds (powerful antioxidant and antiviral compounds), and many lanostane triterpenoids (an important constituent of Chaga is inotodial). Chaga produces massive amounts of high molecular weight phenolic pigments that have been categorized as melanins. This melanin "complex" is released to the surface of Chaga. Melanin is a potent antioxidant pigment that is present and needed throughout the human body, and has a wide range of health benefits. It has been demonstrated that this Chaga Melanin has strong genoprotective (DNA/gene protective) effects. The antioxidant activity of the hot water extract (decoction) of Chaga has been precisely compared with those of other medicinal fungi (Agaricus blazei Mycelia, Ganoderma lucidum and Phellinus linteus) by Japanese researchers, showing that Chaga has the strongest antioxidant activity among the fungi examined in terms of both superoxide and hydroxyl radicals scavenging activities.
Recently, many research groups have begun identification of active small (low-molecular weight) compounds in medicinal mushrooms, with a focus on the yellow polyphenol pigments, which are composed of a styrylpyrone class of compounds. Chaga has been shown to produce a large amount of these styrylpyrone-type polyphenol pigments that exhibit various biological activities, including anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, anti-platelet aggregation, anti-diabetic, anti-dementia and anti-viral effects. Styrylpyrone pigments in mushrooms are thought to have a role similar to that of flavonoids in plants. The inner part of the Chaga mushroom is orange due to the large quantity of these styrylpyrone-type polyphenol pigments. These styrylpyrone-type polyphenols contribute very significantly to Chaga's extremely potent antioxidant activity. The compounds with the most potent antiviral activities in Chaga have been determined to be the phenolic compounds. The phenolic compounds are among the most potent antioxidants in Chaga as well. Many of you already know about the transcription factor known as nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kB), a molecule in all human cells that mediates virtually ALL disease, inflammation and death in humans. The suppression of this chemical is generally regarded as a means of reducing chronic and acute inflammation, degenerative and other kinds of disease, and to prolonging life. A Chaga-component known as DBL (3,4-dihydroxybenzalacetone) is a polyphenol derived Chaga. Chaga is used in Russian folk medicine to treat tumors, so investigators are exploring its mechanism of action. Because most genes involved in inflammation, anti-apoptosis (the blocking of natural cell death), and in cell proliferation -- all of which are hallmarks cancer -- are regulated by NF-kB, researchers postulated that DBL activity is mediated via modulation of the NF-kappaB activation pathway. They investigated the effects of DBL on NF-kB activation. They found that DBL suppressed NF-kB activation by a wide variety of inflammatory agents, including tumor necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin-1beta, epidermal growth factor, lipopolysaccharide and others. The suppression was cell type independent and inhibited both inducible and constitutive NF-kappaB activation. DBL inhibits I-kappa-B-alpha-kinase activity, I-kappa-B-alpha phosphorylation and degradation, p65 phosphorylation, and translocation, all of which are involved in NF-kB activation. DBL also suppressed the expression of TNF-induced and NF-kappaB-regulated proliferative, antiapoptotic, and metastatic gene products. These effects correlated with suppression of TNF-induced invasion. Together, these results indicate that DBL inhibits NF-kB activation and NF-kB-regulated gene expression. That's a good thing! Researchers have recently reported in an international research journal (2011) at least one mechanism by which Chaga modulates immune responses is through secretion of Th1/Th2 cytokines (bioactive chemicals) in immune cells, and that Chaga regulates antigen-specific antibody production. This modulatory effect is responsible for Chaga's "double-direction" adaptogenic effect on the immune response. This activity is very similar to the same activities long noted in Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma). The Chinese variety of Chaga has been studied for its impact on influenza, and though it is not the same species as Siberian Chaga, it is VERY similar compositionally and is considered interchangeable (though perhaps slightly less potent than the Siberian variety). It has been shown that this herb has a potent impact on how the body reacts to the influenza virus. In China, it is listed as one of the five primary "anti-influenza virus mushrooms." The influenza virus infection is recognized by the human innate immune system through the two genetic pathways (toll-like receptor and retinoic acid inducible gene I).These two recognition pathways both lead to the activation of type I interferons and resistance to infection. Chaga (and Reishi mushroom) contain selenium, iron and zinc in large concentrations while chromium, manganese, copper and magnesium were found in lower concentrations. Analysis of serum trace element composition in lab animals showed that these anti-influenza virus mushrooms increase serum trace mineral content significantly -- but only when consuming the whole mushroom extract (obtaining all active constituents simultaneously as opposed to consuming the trace elements as independent nutrients). The trace elements, and in particular selenium (which is greatly increased in the serum of the test animals - more than doubling that of control levels), present in these mushrooms play a direct or indirect role in their influenza fighting nature. They appear to provide prophylactic protection against influenza infection via stimulation of host innate immune response. Chaga, like several other important tonic herbs, is a rich source of the trace element zinc. Zinc is an essential nutrient required for cell growth, differentiation and survival. Its deficiency causes immunodeficiency and many other health problems. Zinc is a critically important constituent of SOD, our most important innate antioxidant. Chaga has apparent antimutagenic actions.
Safety
Chaga’s safety has been well established. It is non-toxic. It may be used as a daily tonic in moderate amounts. Chaga has been widely used in Japan, and the Japanese government carefully monitors adverse reaction reports. As of May 2011, in spite of the widespread popular use of this herb, there have been no adverse reaction reports in Japan. Chaga has traditionally been consumed as a hot tea, and the benefits associated with Chaga are based primarily (almost exclusively) on the cooked decoction or extract of Chaga. So mild cooking is considered appropriate for Chaga. Cooking produces metabolites that are believed to provide biological activity. Dragon Herbs Wild Siberian Chaga is a concentrated extract, produced by a state-of-the-art moderate-temperature full-spectrum extraction technology. Special highly sensitive technologies were used during the extraction process to assure full extraction of bioactive components. Both water and ethanol (alcohol) were used in the extraction, and as a result, all bioactive components are present, including polysaccharides, polyphenols, melanin, styrylpyrone compounds, etc. Ethanol and water extraction has been determined to extract virtually all of the major active constituents of Chaga. The ethanol (alcohol) extract is characterized by the predominant presence of lanostane-type triterpenoids and hispidin analogues. The water extract is characterized by polysaccharides and phenolic compounds. The ethyl ethanol and water extracts, both independently and together, revealed "remarkable potential for scavenging" the tested radicals (antioxidant activities here are indicated as capacities for scavenging superoxide anion, DPPH and hydroxyl radicals), while extracts made with synthetic solvents did not show this activity. Polyphenols are the major contributors for quenching the tested free radicals. Of the lanostane-type triterpenoids three compounds (16, 17 and 22) participated in scavenging hydroxyl radicals. Thus the polyphenols in Chaga are the principle constituents for quenching free radicals while polysaccharides and a few lanostane-type triterpenoids compounds contribute in scavenging free radicals. Chaga's ability to increase PPARy transcriptional activities indicates that it may be strong metabolic regulator. Chaga has been used traditionally to treat diabetes.

Human Energy Production and Transformation
There is a fundamental pattern of Qi production and transformation in the human body that must be understood by the tonic herbalist in order to help establish optimal functioning and thus radiant health. It is possible to influence this production and transformation, and with great skill one can have a truly significant influence, an influence that can change the course of lives.
At conception, the refined essence of the mother and father merge and become one within the new fetal cell and this new life takes up residence in the womb. This united essence creates an energy which forms the foundation of the new human being's life. It is called the Original Qi (or Pre-natal Qi). During pregnancy, the fetus relies upon the mother to nurture and protect the Original Qi. However, at birth the infant becomes independent of the mother's direct umbilical nourishment and begins to breathe and eat by its own power. After birth, the Original Qi becomes active and aids in the transformation of foods and thus in the production of energy. Original Qi acts as the primary catalyst for all energy transformation in the body throughout one's lifetime, and it provides the fundamental life force that determines the life span and the innate vitality of the individual. It is also generally believed that the Original Qi has a major determining influence over both the length and the quality of one's life.
It is considered to be extremely difficult to enhance the Original Qi after conception, although it is not difficult at all to deplete and weaken it, and thus to weaken and in fact shorten one's life. The only way to strengthen the Original Qi is through specific highly sophisticated yogic techniques such as those developed by the Taoists in combination with the intake of certain extremely potent tonic herbs known as essence tonics. The Taoist yogic techniques include the practice of self-applied acupressure and exercises such as those performed in Qi Gung and Tai Qi Quan.
However, it is possible, through proper living to protect the Original Qi and to ensure a long and happy life. Excessive stress and abusive lifestyle are the factors that use up the Original Qi (pre-natal essence) before its predetermined time. Either chronic or acute stress can have devastating effects upon the ability of the Original Qi to properly influence the transformation of Qi as well as on the actual amount of Original Qi retained in the body. Excesses of every kind deplete the Original Qi. Sexual excess, dietary excess, emotional excess, drug excess and work excess in particular are believed to be particularly debilitating. Baring children can result in the loss of Original Qi if this energy is not protected before, during and after giving birth.
The Original Qi is said to reside in the Lower Field of Elixir (known as the Lower Tanden in Japanese, the Lower Dan Tian in Chinese and the Lower Dan Jun in Korean). This primal energy center is located internally, approximately three fingers width below the navel. It is associated with the Kidney function as defined in Chinese physiology. A person born with an abundance of Original Qi will have more vital force throughout their life and will have the opportunity to live longer than one who is born with less Original Qi. However, one who abuses their Original Qi may die well before an innately weaker person who does not abuse their Original Qi. A person born with little Original Qi but who protects and enhances their essence and consistently enhances their Qi may live a long and fruitful life. It is now believed that the Lower Field of Elixir is actually associated with a large abdominal nerve center known as the hypogastric plexus.
When food enters the stomach, the Original Qi acts upon it, resulting in the extraction of Qi from the food. In other words, this primal bio-electrical energy field located in or about the hypogastric plexus influences the extraction of ionized particles and electromagnetic energy from the food as it is broken down into its basic components in the stomach. This extracted energy is known as Grain Qi. Under the influence of the Spleen function, the Grain Qi is directed upwards to the Lungs. In the Lungs, and again under the influence of the Original Qi, it mixes with the electromagnetic energy that has been extracted from the air by the Lungs (known as Air Qi), resulting in what is known as the Essential Qi, which can now be used by the body and psyche for all its functions.
The Essential Qi emerges from the Lungs in two forms, one known as Ying Qi and the other called Wei Qi. The Ying Qi (nutritive energy) circulates through the blood vessels and meridians (energy circuitry). It is the energy that nourishes and vitalizes the body and is used by the body for movement and thought, and for the multitude of functions required in order to live. It is said to be a combination of Heavenly and Earthly energies. Because it is nourishing, it is considered to be relatively yin when compared to the Wei Qi.
The Wei Qi (defense energy) also is derived from the Essential Qi created in the Lungs. However, its function is not to nourish the body and mind, but to protect it. The Wei Qi does not flow through vessels or meridians like the Ying Qi, but circulates instead in the subcutaneous tissues between the skin and muscle and in the fatty membranes of the abdomen and thorax. Its function is to defend the body against the attack of the "external evils" such as heat, cold, wind, dryness and moisture, as well as against the attacks of microscopic infectious agents. The Wei Qi opens and closes the pores, produces sweating and shivering, etc. The Wei Qi is responsible for maintaining soft, resilient, active skin that is capable of adapting to changes in the environment and protecting the tissues and organs that lie under them. The Wei Qi is yang in nature because it is fast moving and resides primarily at the surface of the body.
If there is an abundance of Ying Qi, the excess enters a system of reservoirs known as the Extraordinary Channels. These channels maintain an immediate reserve of extra Qi that the body can utilize at the spur of the moment. As the Ying Qi circulates to the organs themselves, the organs absorb and utilize this nutritive energy. If the supply is abundant and there is more Ying Qi than required, the yin organs concentrate and store the surplus. This stored energy is known as Jing (the word Jing means literally "essence," or "extract"). The six solid organs that are capable of storing surplus Qi can hold only relatively small amounts sufficient for their own needs, except for the Kidney. In fact the surplus energy of the whole body is stored in the Kidney (that is, the Kidney as defined by Chinese physiology). The Kidney is thus a reservoir of this highly refined energy that can be utilized by any organ at any time. One of the first goals of Chinese tonic herbalism, Taoist yoga and the higher forms of acupressure is to develop large reserves of Jing so that the body is always prepared for emergencies and extreme stress. If one never dips too low into this reserve and maintains an abundant supply of Jing, a long secure life will result.
If on the other hand one is under perpetual or acute stress and the reserves of Jing Qi in the Kidneys are used up, the only backup beyond that is the Original Qi. Further stress will result in a depletion of this pre-natal Jing and this will in turn result in an overall weakening and breakdown of the body, mind and spirit and will result in a shorter life, even if the stress is overcome. There is a great Chinese maxim that should never be forgotten --- it is a guideline for achieving longevity:
"It is all right to become fatigued, but never to become exhausted."
In other words, there will be no severe permanent consequences if one experiences some stress that requires utilizing some of the Jing reserves; but if one exhausts the supply of Jing and is forced to utilize their Original Qi, one will pay dearly indeed. This idea of avoiding extreme stress and thus avoiding the depleting of one's Jing while cultivating strong reserves lies at the heart of many of the standard health practices of the Oriental masters.
All of the energy transformations described here can be specifically influenced and coordinated with the tonic herbs. The use of the Chinese tonic herbs, as well as breathing exercises and diet therapy, profoundly influence the manufacture and transformation of the life energy. A knowledge of these energies and their transformations can lead to a better life --- and not even just our own or that of our clients. It is possible, by cultivating our own energy and by protecting our Original Qi, to enhance the energy that we pass on to our children. Jing, which is stored in the Kidney, is refined to an absolutely pure state in the reproductive glands, and it is this primal essence that energizes the sperm and ova and provides the genetic potential of our offspring.
This primal essence is in fact the final distillation of our life to this point, including the way we have eaten, acted, felt and thought. The vitality, happiness and longevity of our children, and theirs, will depend to a very large degree upon the quality and vitality of this primal essence. Enhancing this primal essence is one of the ultimate goals of life, whether we recognize it or not, for this is the determining factor in the survival of the species. Modern Western man has apparently not yet grasped the long range results of the way we treat our bodies. It is time to take the bigger view of life and remember that what we do at one moment will have consequences far into the future. We start by refining our character, practicing moderation in all things, accumulating Qi, cultivating essence (Jing), and protecting ourselves against the unnecessary loss of our Jing.

Dragon Herbs Tribulus 100Caps (460mg)
£38.00
Tribulus
Tribulus Terrestris
Dragon Herbs Tribulus is a potent herb that has been introduced into the world herbal market in a new standardized state. Until recently, the seeds of this plant were used as a medicinal herb in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. However, scientific researchers inBulgaria have discovered that when Tribulus is organically-grown under certain strict conditions and harvested at a newly discovered, specific time, the herb has amazing hormone stimulating, and hormone modulating potency.
Chemistry
Dragon Herbs Tribulus is extraordinarily rich in substances of potential biological significance, including plant steroids, saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids, unsaturated acids, oils, calcium, phosphorus, iron and protein, which individually and in concert, are responsible for its many and varied physiological effects.
The presence and quantities of the pharmacologically important metabolites depend on the parts of the plants used (above ground parts: leaves and fruits and, to a lesser extent, the shoots) and on the conditions of growth, cultivation and harvesting. The following ensures that Trilovin™ delivers the highest possible quality and natural content of active metabolites:
The use of specific, unique and pharmaceutically oriented methods of growing and harvesting Tribulus terrestris in Bulgaria
Use of only the above ground portions of the plant
The subsequent handling, and processing in the United States
There are three groups of active phytochemicals in Bulgarian Tribulus Terrestris.
1. Dioscin, protodioscin, diosgenin, etc.
This first group has an effect on sexual performance and may treat various sexual disorders, sexual energy level and strength by increasing the percentage of free testosterone level for men, and effects pregnenolone, progesterone, estrogen, etc. The hormone balancing effects of Bulgarian Tribulus Terrestris for women makes this product extremely effective for premenstrual syndrome and menopausal syndrome.
2. Sterols – beta-sitosterols, stigma, etc.
This second group protects the prostate from swelling and in combination with the X steroidal saponins (third group listed below), protects the prostate.
3. Proprietary steroidal saponins currently referred to as X steroidal saponins.
These X steroidal saponins affect the immune system. They have been demonstrated to possess anti-bacterial and anti-viral (especially anti-herpes) effects.
History
Tribulus terrestris has played an important role in folk medicine for millennia. The ancient Greeks used it as a general tonic, diuretic, and mild laxative. In India, Tribulus has been used since ancient times for its diuretic and aphrodisiac properties. Tribulus is widely recommended in Ayurvedic rejuvenative formulations, particularly in the treatment of sexual deficiencies. In China, the herb has been a frequent component of therapy for a variety of disorders affecting the liver and cardiovascular system, and particularly as an anti-inflammatory agent for the kidney and urinary tract.
For all of its therapeutic and adaptogenic effects, the most common cross cultural use of the herb has, nevertheless, been in the treatment of infertility in women, impotence in men, and for increasing the libido of both sexes. It was the search for safe, non-hormonal treatments for infertility and other reproductive disorders that inspired scientists at the Chemical Pharmaceutical Research Institute in Sofia, Bulgaria, to investigate Tribulus terrestris in the early 1960’s, based on its widespread and seemingly successful use in such applications. Their studies of the chemistry and pharmacology, plus the physiological and medicinal effects confirmed in clinical studies have attracted world-wide attention. As a result, standardized pharmaceutical preparations of the herb were developed. By 1981, these were incorporated into mainstream medical treatment of various sexual disorders in much of Eastern Europe.
Until 1985, little was known about the plant in America other than by a small group of scientists, herbalists, and doctors trained in Oriental and Ayurvedic traditions. Even then, little notice was taken of the remarkable aspects of Tribulus terrestris, and it is only recently that the fitness-enhancing benefits of Tribulus terrestris were brought to the attention of the athletic and body building community in the United States. This was as a result of the use of Tribulus terrestris by Eastern European Olympic and world champion strength and power athletes. The first feature article on Tribulus terrestris in a major American magazine was published in the September 1996 issue of Muscle & Fitness. Since then, interest in and the demand for the herb has increased dramatically.
Safety
No adverse effects have been noted in any of the clinical trials or human research studies. Toxicity is extremely low in both acute and long term animal studies (based on the animal data, a human would have to consume approximately 100 times the average recommended dose of 750mg per day). There are no contraindications, and no negative effects are presently known to exist when Trilovin™ (standardized Tribulus terrestris) is used as a nutritional supplement or when used as adjunctive therapy in the absence of other prescribed medications.
Availability
Dragon Herbs Tribulus is cultivated and harvested in the environmentally clean area of Topolovgrad, Bulgaria, according to the specific methods developed for pharmaceutical use. It is imported with international documentation regarding origin, authenticity, radiological contamination and chemical analysis and has been approved for use in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration since 1996. The pure standardized Tribulus terrestris is available in capsules and as a hydro-alcoholic extract.
Bulgarian vs Chinese and Indian Tribulus Terrestris
Bulgarian Tribulus Terrestris differs significantly from the Tribulus Terrestris extracts from India and China.
Using a special method of harvesting and pharmaceutical preparation, Bulgarian Tribulus Terrestris has a very high concentration of steroidal saponins. Indian and Chinese Tribulus Terrestris do not.
Chinese and Indian Tribulus Terrestris are made from a different part of the plant and is harvested at a different time of the year. The photochemistry of Chinese and Indian Tribulus Terrestris is considerably different from that of Bulgarian Tribulus Terrestris.
Chinese and Indian Tribulus Terrestris is used as a diuretic, and is used to treat kidney stones. Chinese and Indian Tribulus Terrestris does not have the same pharmacological and physiological functions as Bulgarian Tribulus Terrestris. At the best, Indian and Chinese Tribulus Terrestris have but a trace of group 1 and 1 phytochemicals, and contain virtually no X steroidal saponins. The Indian and Chinese producers extract for furostanols, which has no equivalent pharmacological effect to the Bulgarian Tribulus Terrestris.
Furostanols are not the active ingredient used to affect sexual physiology and to regulate hormone balance. As they exist in Indian and Chinese Tribulus Terrestris, they are not absorbed and utilized by the body. However, all of the active Bulgarian Tribulus Terrestris are readily absorbed and utilized in the body. This explains the radical difference in the effects of Tribulus Terrestris from different sources.

Ron Teeguarden's Super Pill is a special kind of formulation. It is composed entirely of super tonics, the elite tonic herbs in the world. Each of the herbs in this remarkable formulation are "King Herbs," herbs that typically are the lead herb in major formulations. They all have huge reputations for promoting radiant health, longevity and wisdom. It is possible to purchase each of these herbs individually, but by purchasing and consuming this one product, you are assuring yourself of consuming four of the most special health promoting herbs ever known to mankind.
The Herbs in Ron Teeguarden's Super Pill
Gynostemma Leaf
Gynostemma is popularly believed in Asia to be an anti-aging, longevity herb. Gynostemma is generally reinforcing to overall health, has a strong anti-fatigue effect. It is also used throughout the Orient as a virtual "cure-all." Gynostemma is a major adaptogenic herb, in the same league as Panax Ginseng, Siberian Ginseng, Reishi, Schizandra and Astragalus.
In China, Gynostemma is widely believed to reduce oxygen deficiency at high altitudes, to improve digestion, to strengthen the mind, and to improve sex functions. It is also believed to help calm the nerves and to ease pain.
The ultimate greatness of Gynostemma lies in its broad spectrum adaptogenic quality. It has double-direction activity in many areas. It has the ability to bring balance to the body under a wide range of stressful circumstances. Constant consumption of Gynostemma tends to have a highly protective quality because it strengthens the adaptive capacity of the person at every level of their life. The chemical constituents responsible for the adaptogenic characteristic of Gynostemma are saponins called gypenosides.
Gynostemma contains more than eighty different gypenosides. This is the broadest range of saponins in one plant in nature. Ginseng, for example has about thirty-six saponins (ginsenosides) and Astragalus has about thirty-two saponins (astragalosides). These gypenosides are very similar to that of Ginseng and to the eleutherosides of Siberian Ginseng. In fact, four of Gynostemma’s saponins are precisely the same chemical structure as the saponins found in Ginseng and eleven more are almost identical. The similarities are so close and so extensive that Gynostemma is now called “Southern Ginseng.” To the local people who grow it and consume it, it is simply called “Magical Grass.”
Studies indicate that Gynostemma has a double-direction, regulating, and adaptogenic influence of the central nervous system. It is calming when one is overexcited and stimulating when one is depressed. Japanese studies have shown that Gynostemma is clinically useful in a number of mental and neurological conditions, including simple depression, anxiety and schizophrenia.
Though Gynostemma is regarded as a tonic herb, it is already perceived by many Asian people to be a “cure all.” In China, Gynostemma is being used to treat inflammation, stop cough, as an expectorant to remove sputum, to treat chronic bronchitis, and much more in actual clinical practice in Asia.
What is more important, Gynostemma does not cause any side effects and can be taken orally for a long time.
The Gynostemma Extract used in Ron Teeguarden's Super Pill contains 60% gypenosides. This is much more potent than normal extracts, which typically contain approximately 10% gypenosides.
Lycium (Goji) Fruit
This delicious fruit is very widely used as an excellent Yin Jing and blood tonic. Regular consumption of Lycium is traditionally believed to lead to a long and happy life. It is said that prolonged consumption of Lycium will promote cheerfulness and vitality. Lycium is also said to brighten the eyes and improve vision. It is said that Lycium strengthens the legs and enhances sexual function. Lycium fruit contains polysaccharides that have been demonstrated to strongly fortify the immune system. Lycium is also very rich in a vitamin C precursor that converts to vitamin C in the blood stream, and in B vitamins. Furthermore, it is the richest source of carotenoids, including beta carotene, of all known plants on earth and is thus a powerful antioxidant.
Fructus Lycii, the dried fruit of Lycium barbarum is one of the most commonly prescribed Yin-modulators used in Chinese herbalism. In Asia and wherever Chinese herbalism is practiced, this herb/superfood is used as a tonic, and is widely used specifically for the treatment of general debility with a deficiency of vital essence. It replenishes the Yin component and blood elements, improves eyesight, lumbago, impotence vertigo and other symptoms of Yin deficiency of the Kidney and Liver energy channels. In traditional Chinese medicine, it has been documented extensively as a favorite ingredient in recipes for elderly people. This herb contains simple sugars, polysaccharides, betaine, zeaxanthin and physalein.
Various human studies have shown the oral administration of goji (lycium fruit either as an extract or as dried fruit) to in have improved their immune functions, raised the serum levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and hemoglobin but lowered the level of lipid peroxides as well as reduced senility symptoms. Traditional medicinal preparations for sick persons and the elderly usually contain it as one of the ingredients.
Goji berries contain an abundance of health-promoting constituents including: Lycium polysaccharides, 18 amino acids, 6 essential fatty acids, vitamins B1, B2, B6, E (not commonly found in fruit), more beta carotene than carrots, as much vitamin C as contained in lemons or oranges, and more than twenty trace minerals including calcium, organic germanium, selenium, zinc, phosphorus, and iron.
High-grade, fresh Chinese goji is extremely rich in beta-carotene (some researchers estimate that it has the highest content of beta-carotene among all foods on earth). Beta-carotene can be transformed into vitamin A under the influence of human liver enzymes. Therefore, vitamin A ultimately plays a major influence in Lycium’s actions. Lycium’s function on the eyes is related to this factor. Lycium’s vitamin B1 and B2 contents are significant and the vitamin C content of freeze-dried Lycium has been measured to be 73 mg / 100 grams. Goji berries appear to help support our health in many ways. They possess powerful immune-supporting phytochemicals. Goji berry and its extracts have been shown to neutralize free radicals and to protect DNA. Evidence indicates that goji berries are likely to protect our nervous system (including our brain) and our sexual organs from damage due to stress, temperature variations and free radicals.
Convincing evidence supports the traditional notion that consuming goji berries regularly can help support cardiovascular health, protect the pancreas and liver, enhance immunity, support eye health, increase libido and fertility and improve mood.
The fruit also contains beta-sitosterol (an anti-inflammatory agent), linoleic acid (a fatty acid), sesquiterpenoids (cyperone, solavetivone), tetraterpenoids (zeaxanthin, physalin), and betaine.
Reishi Mushroom
Reishi mushroom is arguably the most revered herbal substance in Asia, certainly ranking with ginseng as the elite substance for the attainment of radiant health, longevity and spiritual attainment. It has maintained that position for at least 2000 years, and its reputation and value are only increasing. Since Reishi has been known to have many functions, it has been the subject of a great deal of research in recent years. It is absolutely safe, being non-toxic.
Reishi has traditionally been used as an anti-aging herb and has been used for many diseases and disorders as well. Taoists have continuously claimed that Reishi promotes calmness, centeredness, balance, inner awareness and inner strength. They have used it to improve meditative practices and to protect the body, mind and spirit so that the adept could attain both a long and healthy life and spiritual immortality.
Reishi is now used as a general tonic to help develop energy, to improve digestion and to improve sleep. Reishi is a profound immune potentiator. It has been found to significantly improve the functioning of the immune system whether the immune system is deficient or excessive. In this sense, it is an immune "modulator"---that is, it helps to modulate, or regulate, and fine tune the immune system. Our immune system is a virtually miraculous network of activities designed over millions of years to protect us from viruses, bacteria, parasites, molds, dust, pollen and malignant cells. It is the responsibility of the immune system to detect the intrusion, or invasion, of these entities and to mount a defense in order to eliminate them. A healthy immune system is capable of resisting most such intruders and a very hardy system may be able to resist invasions that many other people's systems cannot. If the immune system is weakened or malfunctioning, the invading microbes can easily establish a foothold in our body and disease sets in. Antibiotics can often be used to stop the invasion at this time, but chronic use of antibiotics further weakens the immune response. Furthermore, antibiotics are useless against viruses, pollens and most parasites. They are certainly useless against malignant (cancerous) cells generated in our own bodies. It is much better to resist the invasion from within with a fully fortified immune system and not become ill in the first place. This is where herbs like Reishi our now attracting the attention of scientists and consumers alike.
Chemical constituents known as polysaccharides play an important role in attacking cancerous cells, but not healthy ones, while simultaneously strengthening the body's overall immune functions. The polysaccharides appear to help the body attack microbial invaders such as viruses, bacteria and yeast. Reishi does not just "stimulate" the immune system. It regulates it. And that is what makes Reishi so precious. If the immune system is excessive, as is the case with auto-immune diseases and allergies, Reishi can have significant positive influence. A group of chemicals known as the ganoderic acids help fight auto-immune diseases such as allergies. Ganoderic acids inhibit histamine release, improve oxygen utilization and improve liver functions. Ganoderic acids are also potent antioxidant free-radical scavengers.
Reishi is widely used in Asia to improve the cardiovascular system. It helps lower HDL (the "bad" cholesterol) and reduce excess fatty acids. It has been found to prevent and treat hardening of the arteries, angina and shortness of breath associated with coronary heart disease.
It has been demonstrated that Reishi can help reduce the side-effects of many kinds of chemotherapy and radiation treatment and simultaneously contribute to the rebuilding of the immune system – an essential part of the recovery from cancer. Reishi stimulates the production of interferon and interleukins I and II, all being potent natural anti-cancer substances produced in our own bodies.
It has also been approved in Japan and China for the treatment of myasthenia gravis, a serious auto-immune disease. Besides that, it is commonly prescribed by MD’s in Japan for chronic bronchitis, memory loss, insomnia, hyperlipidemia and a whole range of degenerative diseases of the elderly, including disorders associated with senility.
Reishi is a superb anti-stress herb. Throughout history it has been used to bring balance into the lives of people who needed help in this department, and that means most everyone. Deep in antiquity, it was routinely used by mountain hermits, monks, Daoist adepts and spiritual seekers throughout Asia because it was believed to help calm the mind, ease tension, strengthen the nerves, strengthen memory, sharpen concentration, improve focus, build will power and, as a result, help build wisdom. That is why it was called the "Mushroom of Spiritual Potency" by these seekers. The people of Asia have never lost their faith in Reishi. They believe more than ever in Reishi's power to improve the quality of life by improving the inner life of a human being. All the scientific validation only explains the physical nature of Reishi, but it is the profound ability of Reishi to improve one's life on every plane that makes it so miraculous. Reishi is indeed calming and centering. Everyone who takes Reishi notices the peacefulness that seems to accompany its use. Many people are able to stop using chemical drugs. And Reishi seems to be cumulative, gradually strengthening the nerves and actually changing how we perceive life.
This product is made from 100% Duanwood, which studies have shown is the most powerful Reishi in the world from a pharmacological perspective. It is extremely rich in all of the components that make Reishi great in the first place. Duanwood Reishi is far more powerful than common hot house Reishi and Reishi mycelium, the most common sources of raw materials on the American market.
Duanwood Reishi is a substance that builds health on all levels. But high quality Duanwood Reishi is among the rarest of jewels in nature. Life itself is based on the ability to adapt to the stresses, the attacks, the challenges that come our way every day. Duanwood Reishi seems to provide an incredible resource of the full range of energies we need to meet these challenges. Duanwood Reishi is indeed "the great protector," protecting us on every level – physically, immunologically, mentally, spiritually. It helps us adapt to the world and provides additional power for us to achieve a superior level of life. When we are so protected and so provided for, we can achieve things that otherwise would be impossible. That is why Duanwood Reishi has been called the "herb of good fortune."
Tibetan Rhodiola
Tibetan Rhodiola sacra is an exciting herb, only recently available outside of Tibet. It is a rare herbal substance because it grows in one of the harshest environments in the world. In the Orient, Rhodiola sacra is called “Plateau Ginseng,” and as the species name “sacra” indicates, the Tibetans consider Rhodiola sacra to be a sacred herb. It has been used by the Tibetan people as a powerful adaptogenic vitalizer and as a substantial medicinal agent since the beginning of Tibetan civilization. Rhodiola sacra has also been prized by the Chinese and was very positively reviewed in the very first Chinese herbal classic over two thousand years ago. It was regarded by the author of that classic text, Shen Nong, as a life-prolonging, wisdom enhancing “superior herb.” However, the rarity ofRhodiola sacra has prevented it from becoming a well-known commodity outside of Asia.
According to Tibetans, Tibetan Rhodiola sacra may be used as a tonic, in which case it strongly increases vitality. It is good for strengthening the body and mind, resisting fatigue, resisting a lack of oxygen and excessive radiation (including solar radiation), and for prolonging life. It is especially well known for increasing the intelligence of those who consume it regularly. Rhodiola sacra hasthe action of “supporting and strengthening the human body” and the immune potentiating effects of Rhodiola sacra are, according to some researchers, stronger than those Ginseng (a VERY potent immune potentiator). Rhodiola sacra has a notable restorative effect if one consumes a preparation while the tired body is recovering or is failing to recover from strong or excessive exertion. Tibetan Rhodiola sacra is now being distributed and consumed in China and Japan. According to the Chinese Ministry of Health,Rhodiola sacra has the following functions:
It has the action of supporting and strengthening the human body and intelligence, and prolonging life.
It has double-direction adjusting effects on the nervous and endocrine systems.
It is good for resisting fatigue, lack of oxygen and radiation, and it can improve a person’s memory, power of concentration and work-efficiency.
Consumption of a small amount of Tibetan Rhodiola sacra extract significantly improves a person’s capacity to absorb and utilize oxygen. This is a major key to the incredible benefits associated with this herb. When you consume Tibetan Rhodiola sacra, it is the same as inhaling pure oxygen.
Tibetan Rhodiola sacra is a superior tonic for those who work from behind a desk or at a computer terminal for long periods of time. It is a powerful brain tonic and alertness enhancer. People who consume Rhodiola sacra find that they can work for much longer without losing their ability to concentrate and create. It is a superb herb for writers, executives, lawyers, etc.
Tibetan Rhodiola sacra is especially beneficial to those who live under stressful conditions. It has been proven that Rhodiola sacra reduces the body’s stress response, and thus protects against the physical side effects of chronic or acute stress. It protects from the damaging effects of mental stress as well. All this is due to its powerful adaptogenic activity. People stay focused and suffer far less from fatigue even under severe stress. Rhodiola sacra is the ideal herbal supplement for the modern world.
This incredible herb has long been used by the Tibetan monks to enhance their spiritual power, the power of concentration and physical endurance. It has undoubtedly played a major role in the development of Tibetan culture. It is a superb herb to take before meditation, since it improves respiration and clears the mind and promotes focused mental states. Tibetan Rhodiola sacra gained its name because it is considered a sacred herb in Tibet and Bhutan.
Evidence has shown that Tibetan Rhodiola sacra is in many ways more powerful than Ginseng, and, for that matter, every other adaptogenic herb in the world. It is a superb herb for people who work very hard physically. Rhodiola sacra has been shown to improve physical endurance. It has been shown to be a superb tonic and energizer for those into physical fitness and for athletes, including extreme athletes.
Rhodiola sacra has been found to be extremely beneficial to the cardiovascular system, and is used in China and Tibet to prevent heart disease, the number one cause of death in the United States.*
Rhodiola sacra is also a powerful immune modulator, building the immune system into a well tuned fighting machine.
Tibetan Rhodiola sacra also is being used as a powerful and safe antidepressant.* It is believed to be more powerful than St. Johns Wort, currently the world’s number one selling natural antidepressant substance.
Rhodiola sacra has been found to be stimulating to the appetites and strengthening for weakened individuals and for those recovering from illness and surgery. However, it may be used by people of excessive weight to help in losing fat because it increases respiratory power and thus can act as a thermogenic agent. By providing increased oxygen and increased energy, Rhodiola sacra improves the ability to lose weight through exercise. Rhodiola sacra is the perfect herb for those who want to gain muscle and lose fat.
Rhodiola sacra is rich in the primary active ingredient, salidroside. However, it is important to know that this single active agent is not the sole active agent in Rhodiola sacra, and that Dragon Herbs’ Diamond Mind is extracted so that the full range of phytochemicals are fully extracted. This is a full potency herbal extract. It is effective in very small quantities and its effects are felt by many people almost immediately.
Rhodiola sacra is a non-toxic herbal nutrient. Safety studies, as well as 2000 years of experience, indicate conclusively thatRhodiola sacra is extremely safe, having no side effects in humans when taken even at high doses. Numerous studies have been presented to the Chinese Ministry of Public Health, which has reached the following evaluation: “Tibetan Rhodiola sacra has no poison, no sub-slow poison and does not cause any sudden change and deformity.”
Rhodiola sacra, and several other very closely related species of Rhodiola (which may be used interchangeably with Rhodiola sacra) grows on the Himalayas at more than 14,700 feet above sea level, under extremely adverse conditions. The region in whichRhodiola sacra grows is extremely barren due to the extreme climatic conditions of the Tibetan alpines. This is considered to be one of the harshest environments on earth, with dry air, insufficient oxygen, strong ultraviolet radiation and a huge day-and-night temperature variance (often as much 60 degrees Centigrade or more). Rhodiola sacra, which belong in to the Crassulaceae family, isa sub-shrub plant with a succulent stem. Its adaptability to the harsh environmental circumstances and its vitality are seldom found in any other plants.
Rhodiola sacra’s root and stem are mainly used as a precious tonic. The major effective contents are salidroside (C14H20O9), tyrosot (C8H10O2), p-sitosterol, ethyl gallate, gallic acid, flavones, phenol compounds, 35 kinds of biologically active trace elements (e.g., Fe, Al, Zn, Ag, Co, Cd, Ti, Mo, Mn, etc.), as well as a complex volatile oil. Tibetan Rhodiola also contains 18 amino acids which are needed by the human body, 7 of which are "essential" (cannot be produced by the body). Such a spectrum of bio-nutrients is seldom seen in any other natural plant.
Salidroside, tyrosot and sitosterol mainly enhance the resistance of the human body for adapting to stressful conditions and adjust physiological functions for restoration. It has double-direction adjusting effects on the nervous system and endocrine system, and possesses many kinds of physiologically active components which studies have shown have anticarcinogenic, antiviral, and antimicrobial activity in in vitro and animal studies*.
The people of Tibet knew over a thousands years ago that by decocting Rhodiola sacra with water or extracting it in alcohol, it can be drunk to overcome fatigue from heavy physical labor and to help increase the vitality necessary for completing extraordinary physical tasks. The benefits of Rhodiola sacra were recorded in the Jingzhu Materia Medica (the Tibetan Medicine Documents). According to that ancient Tibetan medical classic, Rhodiola sacra is nourishing to the lungs and respiratory functions, it is antipyretic, and vitalizing. It was said by “Supernatural Peasant’s (Shen Nong’s) Materia Medica Classic” that “Rhodiola sacra will make the body light and relaxed, and will make the eyes bright.”
According to a large numbers of pharmacological experiments and clinical reports, weak and sick men and women can be helped in building up their strength, intelligence and efficiency of working or exercising power by taking a Rhodiola sacra product frequently. A healthy man or woman can noticeably raise his or her memory and power of concentration. Rhodiola sacra has also been used for stimulating the mental energy and working efficiency of those who work primarily with their brains.
It can be used for relieving internal heat and for detoxification. It is used for invigorating blood circulation and stopping bleeding. With respect to gynecology, it has a beneficial effect on women’s consumptive disorders, and abnormal menstruation, either excessive or deficient.
Traditionally it is believed to have a remarkable curative effect on neurosis and asthenia resulting from various causes.* Therefore, it plays a very important role in military medicine, space medicine and sports medicine. Tibetan researchers have been studying Tibetan Rhodiola sacra with great interest in the last twenty years, and have conducted experiments for toxicology and physicochemical and pharmacological analyses, together with various large hospitals, including the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Chinese Ministry of S

Changbai Mountain Sika Deer antler.
Only the top 1" of tips.
Yang Jing and Yin Jing tonic.
Product DescriptionDragon Herbs Changbai Mountain Deer Antler Drops is made exclusively with antler from Sika Deer, long considered to be the best deer antler. These are small spotted deer that are native to Northeastern Asia. This is the most valuable antler in the world. Deer Antler is considered to be one of the “big three” ultimate “herbs” (dietary supplements) of China — Ginseng, Reishi Mushroom and Deer Antler.Deer Antler supports normal healthy life functions so as to promote wellbeing. Deer Antler is a Yang Jing tonifying herb, and it also tonifies Yin Jing, Qi, Blood and Shen. It therefore tonifies all three Treasures. Deer Antler is used by athletes to support muscular strength. Deer Antler is suitable to both men and women. Deer Antler extract contains hyaluronic acid, a natural substance, also produced in the human body, that maintains elasticity of the skin and connective tissue.Dragon Herbs Changbai Mountain Deer Antler Drops is a unique product in the U.S. market. There are dozens of other “deer velvet” products available, but Dragon Herbs Changbai Mountain Deer Antler Drops is the ONLY product made ENTIRELY from Deer Antler tips. Deer Antler grows from its “tips.” As it grows, the soft body of the antler hardens, while the growing tip remains soft and bio-chemically rich. It has been estimated that 90% of the biologically active constituents of the ENTIRE antler is contained in just the last inch of the antler, known as the “tip,” even if the antler is 18 inches long. Dragon Herbs deer are farmed in beautiful, pristine Changbai Mountain, and are certified by the Chinese Ministry of Health to be clean and safe. Since the deer are so valuable and since deer antler is essentially a renewable “resource,” deer are highly protected. They thrive under the conditions established. The antler is painlessly cut off the live deer when the antler has developed either two or three branches and covered by “velvet.” Dragon Herbs uses only the distal one inch of the antler to make this product. The deer from which the antlers are collected are humanely treated at all stages of their life. They are very well fed, are allowed to graze freely in the foothills during the daylight hours, are protected from predators and are not harmed during the collection of their antlers. They are constantly monitored for their health. After the antlers are collected in May and June, the antlers regrow during the same growing season and are allowed to grow out fully. “Antler harvesting” has been proven to improve the life span of the male deer, which become somewhat less aggressive during mating season (fall and winter) and less prone to fighting and killing each other for the females. As a result, most male deer that have their antlers removed in the spring do not die from rutting, whereas the death and injury rate in the wild is very high. Female spotted deer do not produce antlers.Ingredients: Deer Antler tips.Traditional FunctionReinforcing Kidney Yang, tonifies Yin Jing, tonifies blood*Who can use it?Adults who wish to increase primal Yang energy.Concentration4:1Specifications8 fl. oz.Other IngredientsWater, Grain Alcohol (30% by volume)Dosage3-12 droppers per day as desired or as directed by your health care practitioner
