Saponification is a chemical reaction that occurs when the oil is treated with a highly alkaline solution. Fats are hydrolyzed before combining with alkali to form natural glycerin, a softening agent. This creates soap with a very low pH.  Saponified olive oil is said to increase skin’s porousness to help the skin to release toxins and absorb moisture. Virgin Coconut (Cocos nucifera) Oil– Our pure, pristine virgin coconut oil satiates skin, offering magnificent moisture and resilience. After using Seabuckthorn Shampoo, I have to say that I really love how much better I feel about the kind of shampoo that I'm now using - my natural waves look a bit better than usual (though my hair has remained frizzy-ish). It is also color treated & therefore a bit dry and damaged (I have highlights). I wasn't a fan right off the bat. The first shampoo I did not like it. After I got out of the shower, my hair felt like I had wax in it. I didn't get it. And the conditioner was really light and I thought is wasn't "rich enough". I thought the product was faulty. I even contacted the company. They immediately replaced the product (amazing customer service) but I realized it wasn't the product at all. My hair felt waxy residue from the wax from other shampoos and conditioners that were being removed. Then I actually came to enjoy the light conditioner. I noticed my hair felt softer, smoother, cleaner, lighter, and had more volume since it wasn't all gunked down. If I needed to tame any fly aways a very light touch of coconut oil did the trick perfectly. My scalp felt great, my hair felt great. Once I ran out of product I swtiched to another natural shampoo and conditioner and I immediately felt the waxy residue on my hair again. It feels like it never really gets clean. This is one of those products I bought without expecting it to work. I always use sulphate-free toothpastes, but I’ve never used anything as natural as this, simply because I didn’t think it would be a substitute for regular toothpaste. But it works! I use a rice grain-sized pinch of this toothpaste on my Philips Sonicare, and the results are spectacular. People have commented on Amazon that their teeth felt ‘silky’ after using this toothpaste, and I now understand what they meant by it. Minty fresh I’ve always had disastrous results using any tooth product or DIY toothpaste recipe that contains clay. The worst experience I had was a few years ago I made a well known blogger’s homemade toothpaste recipe made with clay that left my gums and mouth sore and swollen for over 2 weeks. The only way I could remedy the situation was brushing my teeth with coconut oil and gargling with salt water a few times a day. I use very little of the tooth paste (the size of a tiny crumb!) on a dry tooth brush, and I LIGHTLY brush my teeth for a few minutes (I aim to brush my teeth for 3-5 minutes, as lightly as possible). Nadine Artemis emphasizes brushing lightly for longer, as opposed to brushing roughly or strongly for shorter periods of time (which is what most people do). Following her protocol of how to brush my teeth more thoroughly and more gently, I do get a much deeper and efficient cleaning. I’ve tried using her technique of light brushing for longer periods of time with tooth soap and regular toothpaste, but it doesn’t work because you can’t have the soap or regular toothpaste in your mouth too long or it starts to burn, and leaves your mouth REALLY dry. But on the other hand, using Living Libations Happy Gums Clay Toothpaste doesn’t burn if you’re brushing your teeth for longer time, and as long as you don’t brush your teeth too roughly, it won’t irritate your teeth and gums either. I have to say, I’ve been so pleased with this toothpaste, and my new brushing style as well. I’ve notice a significant decrease in tartar build up along my gum line (I’m prone to that), my teeth and mouth are much cleaner, and my gums feel much stronger (post pregnancy I’ve had very sensitive gums). Since Azulene generally imparts products a vivid blue colour, I was expecting the shampoo to be bright blue, but it’s a dark olive green. The smell is intoxicating and the first term that came to my head as I was rubbing this on it was ‘enchanted forest.’ I guess this is what I’d imagine an enchanted forest to smell like. It lathers well for a natural shampoo (I’m told yucca root creates the suds) and it has a soothing (almost cooling, in a non-mentholated way) effect on the scalp. Up until now I had never considered trying another shampoo until LL came out with the Spirulina. I ordered a small bottle out of sheer curiosity, and I am so glad I did! The Spirulina seems to be much more lathering than the Seabuckthorn, and that has made all of the difference for me. It's much easier to spread through my fine hair without feeling like I am pulling it out. And my goodness, my hair was soft when it dried! True Blue Spirulina Shampoo & conditioner I have been a big fan of the Seabuckthorn shampoo & conditioner for the last couple of years and have used those religiously. My hair has never looked shinier and healthier. But now I have tried the new True Blue Spirulina Shampoo & Conditioner and am *in LoVe* with them as well....the smell is intoxicating and divine. I am constantly trying to smell my hair all day. I'm not sure which shampoo/conditioner I love more now. I think my hair is more shiny with the Seabuckthorn but more volume with the True Blue. I would love it if you offered the True Blue set in the 1000ml. size as well. Nadine has done it again! I never thought I would try another shampoo after discovering Living Libations Seabuckthorn shampoo, but of course I had to try the Blue Spirulina. Okay haha how many of you thought oh god no don't do it! Lol. No it is nothing that bad. Back in June I ran out of my favorite shampoo and conditioner and I haven't really had the money to order them lately. So, I decided to do an experiment :) and not wash my hair for a little while. As time went by I had a few occasions where I could choose some other shampoo and conditioner that just wasn't even vibrating with me or I could keep on experimenting, which of course won each time as it is more exciting than "not exciting shampoo and conditioner." Yes, when you are extremely sensitive and have an energetic experience with your shampoo and conditioner like I do, it is exciting to find a shampoo and conditioner you really like. So today, as I have been packing and preparing to move soon, I came across a small amount of my favorite shampoo still left in the bottle. Apparently because I ran out of conditioner and they are usually a pair I just interpreted that as being out.completely. The experiment went very well probably I suppose I would be categorized as somebody with normal hair. It has never been extremely dry like having a dry scalp and having dandruff nor have I ever had greasy hair, my hair just doesn't get greasy. So the experiment went on and on... it was pretty fascinating actually I was surprised my head didn't get stinky or itchy or something, lol. I did brush water through my hair every morning but I didn't actually wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner... Until today when I found that little bit of shampoo and it was so nice and my hair feels so happy, even without conditioner.
