Nature’s Iron // Beef Spleen is the richest natural food source of heme-iron (the type of iron which is most readily absorbed by the body). Iron is a really important micronutrient as it’s vital for oxygen transportation, the production of thyroid hormone and immunity. When iron levels are optimal, people tend to report increased energy and overall resilience, whereas when they’re low this is associated with fatigue, irritability, weakness and depression.
When looking to support your bodies iron stores, it’s much more beneficial to get heme-iron from animal foods like spleen, as opposed to non-heme iron from plant foods as it’s much more absorbable (please see diagram in image gallery to the left for details). Also, when you get iron from natural food sources, as opposed to unnatural food sources (fortified foods) or synthetic iron supplements, this means the iron comes paired with other nutrients within the food that aid it’s role within the body. For example, spleen naturally contains copper, which prevents iron overload. That’s also why we decided to include Beef Liver in this blend as it’s not only also a great source of heme-iron but it’s one of the best sources of copper too, as well as being loaded with a whole host of other beneficial micronutrients.

Grass-Fed Beef Spleen | Nature's Iron
Iron plays a crucial role within the body by producing haemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. When the body is low on haemoglobin, the movement of oxygen throughout the body is impaired and people tend to experience fatigue, irritability, breathlessness, aches and pains, weakness, depression or general tiredness. In extreme cases this is diagnosed as anaemia. This can be counteracted by increasing iron stores, which when optimal, result in people feeling energetic, emotionally balanced, strong and having a general sense of wellbeing. Iron is also required to make thyroid hormone so not getting enough can lead to hypothyroidism (underachieve thyroid), which is also associated with fatigue, weakness and depression as well as hair loss and weight gain.
Due to this, there are lots of synthetic iron supplements on the market. However, many of these come in forms that are really poorly absorbed by the body or due to not containing copper, can cause iron overload (more on this below). On the other hand, getting iron from whole food sources is a much safer, gentler and more effective (if you choose the right foods) way to sustainably support iron levels.
When it comes to effectively increasing iron within the body, it’s much better to get heme-iron from animal foods as opposed to non-heme iron from plant foods as the absorption rate is 15-40% as opposed to 2-13%. Please see the image gallery above for an example.
That’s why we created this product ’Nature’s Iron’, containing two of the best food sources of heme-iron; grass-fed beef spleen (70%) and liver (30%). Beef Spleen is the best natural food source of iron with 100 grams containing 44.6mg’s (285% of the daily value [DV]). Beef Liver contains 4.9mg’s (27% of the DV) per 100g’s and although this is a lot lower than spleen, it’s still one of the top food sources available.
These ancestral superfoods also naturally contain a wide array of other powerful nutrients such as folate, B12 (essential for optimal energy levels), vitamin A, zinc, copper, choline, phosphorus, niacin, and even vitamin C, which we know helps support iron absorption even further.
Of all these nutrients, copper in-particular plays a very aligned role with iron in the body. Copper is required to liberate iron from liver stores to enable it to create red blood cells. On the other hand, if we don’t have enough copper, this can lead to iron overload in the liver, which causes inflammation. However, as nature knows best, beef spleen is also high in copper, with 100 grams containing 0.17mg (19% of the DV). Imperial Cordyceps is a concentrated extract that has been produced to the highest specifications currently possible. The extract comprises both liquid-fermented Cordyceps sinensis mycelia and Cordyceps militaris fruiting bodies from silkworm larvae, mirroring the overall composition of wild Cordyceps that has been an important medicine in the East for many centuries.
Imperial Cordyceps was the name given to the finest quality Cordyceps sinensis species that was reserved for the royalty and nobility of ancient China and Tibet. However, wild Cordyceps is now the most expensive natural medicine on the planet and fetches upwards of $20,000 per kilo. Sadly it is a completely unsustainable industry that is threatening the biodiversity of the high Himalayan regions. Fortunately it is now possible to cultivate Cordyceps species to an extremely high standard that reflects the potency & quality of the famed Imperial Cordyceps of the Himalayas, and at a fraction of the price.
A considerable portion of the wild Cordyceps sinensis 'caterpillar body' would be filled with mycelium, where as the club-shaped fruiting body would extend from the head of its caterpillar host, making up the remaining share of the fungus. However, it is not currently possible to cultivate Cordyceps sinensis so that it produces a mature fruiting body. Cultivation of the mycelia on the other hand, does produce an end result that is very similar and more consistent in quality to that of its wild counterpart. For the fruiting body, another, chemically very similar species called Cordyceps militaris is used, as this species yields a medicinally potent fruiting body much more easily.
The mycelia of Cordyceps sinensis is cultivated via liquid fermentation (CS-4) while the fruiting bodies of Cordyceps militaris are grown on a substrate of silkworm larvae. The two species/parts of this fungus are then dual-extracted into pressurised hot water and then ethanol separately - a process which is repeated as many times as necessary to extract everything of therapeutic value. The extracts are then spray-freeze-dried to produce the resulting fine-grain powder as well as remove any residual ethanol/alcohol.
The extract powders are then combined and concentrated to be many times more potent by weight than the fungus was originally, prior to extraction. There are absolutely no fillers or additives used in this product whatsoever. This extract is bottled in Miron Violet Glass – the best quality glass in the world – in order to protect and preserve the integrity of this outstanding medicine from ultraviolet degradation.
Because the source material is such high quality and the extraction process is so precise and thorough, it results in the most potent & effective Cordyceps product money can buy. Wu Wei Zi means Fruit of Five Flavors.” Due to the fact that Schizandra possesses all five of the classical “tastes” (sour, bitter, sweet, spicy and salty) and thus possesses the essence of all five of the elementtal energies (wood, fire, earth, metal and water), Schizandra is respected as a health-providing tonic in the same class with Ginseng and Reishi Mushroom. According to Chinese herbalism, all foods and herbs have one or several of the 5 flavors: sweet, sour, spicy (pungent), salty and bitter. Different flavors enter different organs. Sourness enters the Liver, bitterness enters the Heart, sweetness enters the Spleen, spiciness enters the Lungs and saltiness enters the Kidneys.
Generally, the five flavors also have different functions on the human body.
As to the Yin/Yang nature of the 5 flavors, sweetness and spiciness are yang while sourness, saltiness and bitterness are yin. It is therefore very important that in our daily diet, we consume all five flavors in a balanced fashion. One should not skip any flavor. Otherwise, imbalances will arise and certain organs may not be nourished properly.All herbs contain at least one of the five flavors. Remarkably, Schizandra fruit contains all five flavors. Schizandra has been used since the dawn of Chinese civilization as a tonic herb. From the beginning it has been revered, and remains one of the elite herbs of the Chinese system of herbalism. It was first written about in Shen Nong’s Pharmacopoeia (between first and second century A.D.) where it was listed as a Superior herb. The Taoists especially revered Schizandra. Schizandra was my teacher’s, Sung Jin Park’s, favorite herb. This is because Schizandra tonifies all 3 treasures, enters all 12 meridians and nurtures all 5 elements. Master Park considered it to be the quintessential herbal substance. Though Schizandra is believed to benefit all the functions of the body, it has traditionally been considered to have the most influence on the Kidney, Lung and Liver functions.

This herb is considered to be one of the premium mind tonics of herbalism. It is used to sharpen concentration, improve memory and increase alertness. In fact, some people consider Schizandra mildly “calming” while producing wakefulness and improved focus.The ability of the dried fruit to increase mental and physical activity in humans was reported in numerous studies conducted in the 1950s. It has been demonstrated that human intellectual activity can be enhanced and work efficiency increased by consuming Schizandra. Various tests have shown that moderate therapeutic doses of Schizandra can improve various activities requiring concentration, fine coordination, sensitivity and endurance. The tests in humans confirming Schizandra’s efficacy in these areas range from threading needles to running marathons. Schizandra has been demonstrated in laboratory animals and in humans to have a stimulant action on the central nervous system. The herb works directly on the nervous tissue. Conversely and paradoxically, schizandra also promotes sound sleep when combined with yin herbs or sedative (“Shen stabilizing”) herbs. Schizandra does not make people sleepy, but when it is time to sleep its action on the brain results in deeper, more satisfying sleep. Many studies now indicate that Schizandra actually has a powerful balancing, or regulating, action on the central nervous system. It can result in accurate and optimal balancing between the excitatory and inhibitory control functions of the cerebral cortex.

Detoxifying, healing, regenerative and protective
Schizandra stands along with Reishi as the primary liver cleansing agents used in tonic programs. Schizandra does not have the side effects that are associated with many of the “medicinal,” or “inferior” liver cleansing herbs. Schizandra, especially alcohol extracts, are widely believed to protect the liver from damage due to poisons, as well as the by-products of living.
Phase I and Phase II of detoxification
Schizandra has been shown to strengthen and protect the liver. It does this by detoxifying and rejuvenating this critical organ. There are two critical stages to the process of liver detoxification, known as Phase I and Phase II. In Phase I, a detoxifying agent goes into the liver and binds with toxins, releasing them from the liver and taking them into the bloodstream. Almost always, this newly bound toxic bundle is more toxic than the original toxin. This increased toxicity is known as bioactivation. It is obvious that this process can be dangerous. It’s similar to the removal of asbestos from an old house. It needs to be safely removed from the walls and from the building without exposing anyone to it again. Re-exposure to old toxins in their new bioactivated form can make you sick – and much of this material will end up back in the liver again, or stored in other tissues.
During phase II of detoxification, the bioactivated toxins, which may be highly active, are safely cleared out of the body. This, of course, is the part we all want to happen in quick and efficient order. If the phase II process is weak, faulty or absent, all we’ve done is re-poison ourselves.Many substances can go into the liver and release old toxins into the bloodstream, but that is all they do, and as a result the person goes through an increased toxic period. The so-called cleansing crisis experienced by many people who go through various types of cleanses, is largely the result of bioactivated toxins wreaking havoc in the body. It is therefore very important that agents which boost phase I activity also have significant effects on enhancing the phase II clearance of the reactive intermediate.Schizandra appears to be very effective in boosting both Phase I detoxification and Phase II clearance of activated toxins.Schizandra can reduce elevated SGPT (Serum Glutamate Pyruvate Transaminase) in patients with chronic hepatitis. SGPT is an enzyme concentrated in the liver. It is a reliable marker of liver inflammation, often tested by doctors to evaluate liver damage. In a clinical study conducted in China, more than 5000 people suffering from various types of hepatitis were given Schizandra and the results were very good. The aggregate effective rate was 84-97.9%. SGPT was normalized in about 75% of the cases.

Schizandra is said to increase the Water Qi in the Kidney. In particular, it is said to vastly increase the “water of the genital organs,” referring to the sexual fluids. Schizandra is said to promote the production of semen. It is famous for its ability to relieve sexual fatigue and for increasing the sexual staying-power in men. It is thus an ingredient in the vast majority of men’s sexual tonics in Asian herbalism.Women benefit from the same capacity to increase Water Qi of the Kidney. Schizandra is said to increase circulation and sensitivity in the female genitals. Many women claim increased genital warmth and sensation after using Schizandra for a period of time. The Chinese sexual classics claim that continuous use by a woman will increase the amount of “female elixir,” a euphemism for vaginal secretions, during intercourse. On the other hand, Schizandra is used clinically to help counteract excessive vaginal discharge. For both men and women, Schizandra is considered to have “aphrodisiac” qualities, especially when combined with other Kidney tonifying herbs like Lycium, Cistanche, deer antler, Epimedium, etc. Furthermore, Schizandra is one of the most important astringent herbs used in Chinese herbalism. An astringent herb conserves fluids, and in the case of Schizandra, it tends to contain sexual fluids until the appropriate time of release. Thus, consuming Schizandra for a period of time, one tends to build up sexual fluids. Schizandra is used in sexual formulations to prevent premature ejaculation and to help promote incredible endurance.

Ok I love colostrum and the immune tree are brilliant for me ! I spend an awful lot on supplements but I always have my immune tree colostrum and it definitely improves my immune system , I suffer from Addison's ( major and total adrenal insufficiency) I don't produce any of my own cortisol and it's exhausting even with replacing with hydrocortisone as it's a fixed dose three times daily and not my body regulating the dose. However since I began to take colostrum every day I have indeed noticed some increase in stamina and definitely improved immunity. I'd highly recommend this colostrum to any one and everyone wanting that extra boost for the immune system.
