yōjō Vagus Nerve Stimulation System
Daily nervous-system support for better sleep, calmer days and faster recovery
yōjō is a complete nervous-system wellness system designed to help your body move more effectively from stress and high alert into rest, recovery and balance.
At its centre is a non-invasive transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation device—known as taVNS—which delivers gentle electrical stimulation through an earpiece positioned against the skin of the ear.
Unlike standalone vagus nerve stimulators, yōjō combines the physical device with a personalised digital platform, real-time biofeedback, guided nervous-system activities, health education and access to human coaching.
The result is a practical daily programme designed to help you build a stronger, more flexible nervous system rather than relying on an occasional quick fix.
What is the vagus nerve?
The vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve in the body. It carries signals between the brain and many of the body’s major organs and plays an important role in regulating functions associated with:
-
Rest and relaxation
-
Sleep
-
Digestion
-
Heart-rate regulation
-
Mood and emotional balance
-
Inflammation
-
Pain signalling
-
Energy and recovery
-
Immune-system communication
Your autonomic nervous system continually shifts between two broad states.
The sympathetic nervous system prepares you for action and is commonly associated with the “fight-or-flight” response. The parasympathetic nervous system supports rest, digestion, repair and recovery.
Modern life can leave the stress response switched on for longer than necessary. Over time, this may contribute to feeling tense, overstimulated, exhausted, unable to switch off or “wired but tired.”
The vagus nerve is one of the main pathways through which the parasympathetic nervous system helps bring the body back towards a calmer state.
How does yōjō work?
The yōjō device delivers gentle electrical pulses through the skin of the ear, stimulating areas associated with the auricular branch of the vagus nerve.
This is known as transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation, or taVNS.
The stimulation is non-invasive and does not require surgery, needles or stimulation through the neck. The yōjō earpiece is designed to sit securely in the ear, allowing you to complete a session hands-free.
Regular use is intended to support parasympathetic activity and nervous-system flexibility—the ability to respond appropriately to stress and then return to a state of rest and recovery.
yōjō combines this stimulation with personalised activities, education, habit-building tools and biofeedback so that you can understand your nervous system and track how it responds over time.
Potential benefits of regular yōjō use
Calmer stress response
When your nervous system remains on high alert, even relatively small challenges can feel overwhelming.
Daily vagus nerve stimulation may help activate the body’s natural calming response, supporting a greater sense of steadiness and making it easier to move out of stress mode.
yōjō also provides guided breathing, mindfulness and nervous-system activities that can be used between stimulation sessions when you need additional support.
Deeper, more restorative sleep
Difficulty falling asleep is often connected to an inability to switch off physically and mentally.
By encouraging parasympathetic activity, yōjō may help prepare the body for rest, reduce pre-bedtime tension and support the transition into sleep.
The platform can also provide sleep-related education, relaxation practices, breathing techniques and personalised activities to help improve the habits surrounding your sleep.
yōjō does not currently function as a conventional sleep tracker. Instead, it monitors nervous-system metrics related to stress, recovery and autonomic balance.
More consistent energy
Persistent stress can be physically and mentally draining, even when you appear to be getting enough sleep.
By supporting better recovery and nervous-system regulation, yōjō may help you experience more stable energy throughout the day and reduce the feeling of being simultaneously tired and overstimulated.
Faster physical and mental recovery
Recovery is not only about resting your muscles. Your nervous system also needs to shift out of high alert before the body can fully relax, repair and recharge.
yōjō is designed to support the body’s recovery response following exercise, demanding work, emotional stress or periods of poor sleep.
This may be particularly valuable for people who train regularly, work in high-pressure environments or struggle to feel fully recovered between demanding days.
Better mood and emotional balance
The vagus nerve is involved in communication between the brain and body and contributes to the regulation of stress, mood and emotional reactions.
Regular stimulation, combined with yōjō’s guided activities and health education, may help users feel calmer, clearer and less reactive during everyday life.
yōjō is not a treatment for anxiety, depression or any other mental-health condition and should not replace professional medical or psychological care.
Support for tension and day-to-day discomfort
Stress, poor sleep, muscle tension and an overactive sympathetic nervous system can all influence how discomfort is experienced.
By supporting relaxation, parasympathetic activity and nervous-system balance, yōjō may help reduce the stress and tension that can amplify day-to-day discomfort.
It is not intended to diagnose or treat chronic pain, migraines, fibromyalgia or any other medical condition.
Greater resilience
A healthy nervous system is not one that is calm all the time. It is one that can respond to a challenge when necessary and then return to balance afterwards.
Used consistently, yōjō is designed to help improve this flexibility, so your body can move more efficiently between activity, stress, relaxation and recovery.
More than a vagus nerve stimulation device
The yōjō system combines several different forms of nervous-system support.
Daily ear-based VNS
Complete a 30-minute, hands-free vagus nerve stimulation session using the device and earpiece.
Personalised wellness programme
Your yōjō experience is adapted around your goals, lifestyle, habits and nervous-system data.
Your programme may focus on areas such as:
-
Sleep
-
Stress management
-
Emotional balance
-
Energy
-
Physical recovery
-

Everyday discomfort
-
Building healthier routines
Real-time biofeedback
Before and after a session, you can complete a short face scan using your phone’s camera.
The technology analyses subtle changes in skin colour and tiny movements associated with blood flow and each heartbeat.
From these readings, the yōjō platform can provide information and estimates relating to:
-
Resting heart rate
-
Heart-rate variability
-
Respiratory rate
-
Stress index
-
Parasympathetic activity
-
Cardiac workload
-
Nervous-system balance
-
Blood-pressure-related measurements
This allows you to compare your readings before and after a session and observe how your nervous system responds.
The measurements are intended for general wellness and biofeedback purposes. They should not be treated as clinical measurements or used to diagnose a health condition.
Human coaching and care-team support
Your membership includes access to human support rather than leaving you to interpret the technology by yourself.
The yōjō care team can help you:

The yōjō platform is designed to help turn vagus nerve stimulation into a regular daily ritual by tracking use, encouraging healthy habits and adapting the programme around your progress.
How to use yōjō
A typical yōjō session follows a simple process.
1. Open the yōjō app
Select the option to begin a VNS session.
2. Complete your pre-session face scan
Use your phone’s camera to capture your starting nervous-system and cardiovascular wellness readings.
The scan takes approximately 30 seconds.
3. Prepare the earpiece
Apply a small amount of the supplied conductive gel to the appropriate contact area of the earpiece.
The gel helps provide reliable contact between the electrode and the skin.
4. Position the earpiece
Place the earpiece in your ear according to the supplied instructions.
5. Connect the device
Switch on the yōjō device and connect it to the app.
The app will search for your device and guide you through the session.
6. Select a comfortable intensity
Increase the stimulation gradually until you feel a gentle tingling or pulsing sensation.
The sensation should remain comfortable. A stronger intensity does not necessarily mean better results.
Reduce the intensity if the stimulation feels unpleasant. Stop using the device if you experience burning, persistent itching, pain or significant discomfort.
7. Complete your session
A standard session lasts approximately 30 minutes and can be completed hands-free.
You can use the time to relax, read, work quietly or prepare for sleep.
8. Complete your post-session scan
After the session, take another short face scan to see how your readings have changed.
Recommended frequency
For best results, yōjō recommends using the device consistently.
The manufacturer’s current guidance is:
