What is Progesterone?
Progesterone is a hormone that has been around for about 500 million years. That makes it the oldest hormone around.
It’s essential to all vertebrates: fishes, reptiles, birds and mammals – including humans. It has countless functions in both sexes and all ages.
This vital hormone plays a major role in the body. It is not exclusively a female hormone . It plays no part in the secondary sexual characteristics which develop at puberty. It is the precursor to the hormones oestrogen and testosterone.
It is secreted primarily by the ovaries in females and the testes in men. Smaller amounts are produced by the adrenal glands, the brain and glial cells in both sexes.
There are no great quantitative differences between men and women (at least outside the luteal phase).
William Allen and George Corner first isolated ‘Progestational Steroidal Ketone’ (these are the words that fully describe the hormone and which are the source of its commonly used name) in 1934 and proposed the name because of its “progestational” activity in the pregnant female. This was an unfortunate choice of name as it has now come to be regarded as a ‘female’ hormone, and it’s many other roles having been largely forgotten.
It was not until 1943 that Russell Marker made progesterone from the plant steroid diosgenin. Originally he used the Mexican wild yam (dioscorea villosa) as a source plant. However, diosgenin has now been found in many other plants, including the spice fenugreek and the soya bean.
Once it was established that it could be produced like this biochemists began converting it into other hormones. These include cortisone, testosterone, estrogen and of course the unnatural ‘progestins’ or ‘progestogens’ that masquerade as the real, natural hormone.
There is much confusion in the minds of both the public and the professions between progesterone on the one hand, and the progestins or progestogens and “yam extracts” on the other.
Let me clear the confusion for you.
Progesterone is made in your body from cholesterol. Here are the essentials of the process…
first, your body turns the cholesterol into pregnenolone
pregnenolone is then converted to progesterone
your body then makes a cascade of other hormones that it needs from the progesterone(these include the estrogens and testosterone amongst others)
The “natural” hormone your body makes has a unique molecular structure. Here’s what it looks like…
The synthetic progestins and progestogens on the other hand have an altered molecular structure.
Spot the difference? They may look similar to the real thing… just as ivy and spinach are both green and leafy (ivy quiche anyone?).

The lesson here is obvious enough… if such small differences in molecular structures have such big real effects then… beware of man made alterations.
The fact is progestins behave in the body in radically different ways to progesterone itself. The only similarity between progestins and the natural hormone is their ability to maintain the endometrium (the lining of the uterus).
This also means they can be patented and sold for exhorbitant prices.
The natural hormone has no toxic side effects. However, the progestins and progestogens are potentially highly toxic because of their altered molecular structure.
And now for “yam extracts” and “yam creams“… simply put…“these do not contain progesterone”
They do contain the plant steroid diosgenin, but the body cannot convert diosgenin into the hormone itself. The yam creams can have a beneficial ‘adaptogenic’ effect on the body but, unlike the hormone itself, they cannot correct hormonal imbalances such as excessive levels of estrogen.
Of course progesterone has many other roles within the body such as normalizing blood sugar levels, boosting thyroid function, it helps us use fat for energy instead of storing it, it also has anti-inflammatory effects and reduces swelling and inflammation.

Lets look at the contents in more detail :
The progesterone in Natpro is identical to the progesterone your body makes. ‘Progesterone Ph. Eur. USP JP’ is derived principally from stigmasterol, a steroidal sapogenin. Phytosterols are chemically similar to cholesterol which is found in animals. Cholesterol is the starting point for the hormones made naturally in animals, including humans. Plants such as the soy bean, Dioscorea species of yams, fenugreek, sisal, calabar bean, some lilies, yucca, some solanum species, maize and many more contain phytosterols, some of which are stigmasterol, diosgenin, sitosterol, campesterol, hecogenin, smilagenin, sarsasapogenin, solasodine. As these sterols have a similar molecular structure to progesterone they are used as starting points for the synthesis of progesterone. In the southern United States the sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is called a yam, as are some edible members of the aroids. These plants do not contain any sapogenins. Don’t confuse Natpro progesterone cream with a bean or yam “extract”. Such extracts do not contain progesterone.
caprylic/capric triglyceride – is a ‘medium chain’ triglyceride of fractionated vegetable fatty acids extracted from coconut oil. It is colourless, neutral in odour and taste and has a very low viscosity. It has very good resistance to oxidation. It is an ideal ‘carrier’ for progesterone, as it penetrates the skin readily and is easily absorbed. It does not leave a greasy film and helps to retain moisture. Very importantly… it’s not a mineral oil and is unrefined.Lets examine these points more closely:
Mineral oils, being petro-chemicals, are potentially harmful because they are “endochrine disruptors”. They rob your body of the oil soluble vitamins A, D, E & K , and sodeprive you of vital nutrients. Never use any product on your skin that contains mineral oils.
Heating or refining any vegetable oil causes damage. The good “cis” fatty acids that are found in vegetable oils are turned into bad “trans” fatty acids and the result is highlycarcinogenic. Don’t use refined oils.
Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol) – All emulsions made with vegetable oils have the potential to go rancid. For this reason dl-alpha tocopherol is used as it’s an ‘in vitro’ antioxidant. Standard preparations contain only 0.1%, however, Natpro progesterone cream contains a further 0.2%.

Transdermal Delivery of Progesterone
Creams have an advantage over all the other systems. No special method or applicator is needed to apply a cream, there’s no discomfort in using it as in some delivery systems, in fact it often soothes the problem quickly. It can be applied within seconds, on the run if need be.
A progesterone cream can be used anywhere on the body, it does not have to be applied to the thin skinned areas only. The skin comprises 95% kerotinocytes, these have ample progesterone receptor sites. Even hair follicles absorb progesterone well.

Our early ancestors didn’t brush… didn’t floss… didn’t get cavities. This is my “go to” line because it seems that the more we brush and floss and use fluoride, the more cavities we get. Our liver product is high in real, preformed vitamin A (5,000 iu per serving). That said, if you are deficient in vitamin D, vitamin K2 and/or magnesium, you will not see as much benefit as you could (nor) will you be optimizing other important health metrics. Do you regularly get mid day sun exposure, or take a vitamin D3 supplement? Do you eat fermented veggies like kimchi or sauerkraut, or take a vitamin K2 complex supplement? The take home message here is live life in harmony with nature, the way of our early ancestors… love your bone soups, look to liver, get sensible sun exposure, eat your fermented foods (natto reigns supreme) and mind your magnesium. As far as brushing goes, by all means, do it when you feel like it... we recommend using a Bass brush (or) a chewing stick just like our early ancestors did which shows parallel, or even greater efficacy, as compared to standard brushing (see study). Wife also makes her patients turn off their wifi routers at night, leave their cell phones out of the bedroom and remove electrical devices within a 12 foot radius of the bed (one's pillow should also not be near a power outlet). If you can get away from bathing in non-native EMFs, health and healing has a better chance. Many times, all you need to do is use an EMF meter to see where the fields have biological implications and then re-position the offensive device... sometimes you may need to re-position your bed, chair or sitting area.
If you've tried absolutely EVERYTHING and you're still having issues, cut out the phytates and the lectins for six months and stay the course with everything above.
VITAMIN K2: MK-7 (VS) MK-4 SUMMARY
There's K2 (MK-7) that comes from bacterial fermentation and then there's K2 (MK-4) that comes from animals.
K2 (MK-7). Get this from fermented veggies like homemade kimchi and sauerkraut made with Kinetic Culture (my favorite) or buy a boutique brand at the store and make sure that it's raw, NOT pasteurized. If you can spoon some nattō into your mouth (and manage to swallow it), do it every time there's a blue moon or a solar eclipse. You'll also find some of this MK-7 variety in diary too.
K2 (MK-4 ). Get this from grass fed / grass finished organ meats, bone marrow, wild fish eggs, and to a lesser degree, pasture raised (totally organic) egg yolks. You can even get this in desiccated Grass Fed Beef Brain / desiccated Bone Marrow in capsule form (yes, that's a shameless plug!). If you throw in the towel altogether, make sure that you're getting a good K2 complex supplement with multiple forms of K2 (especially MK-7 and MK-4) and make sure that it's GMO free since it will likely be coming from soy... you already know the backstory there.

I have had the distinct pleasure of getting to deeply know many of my patients that abstain from red meat as well as other animal foods. One thing is for certain, the world needs more people like you... the world needs more people that make such conscientious decisions, with such principle-centered compassion, and such regard for all walks of life. I have no doubt that this, in part, is why I've developed such kinship-like bonds with many of my vegetarian patients... patients that have become wonderful friends... friends that I deeply care about. This is why it breaks my heart to see the devastating consequences of abstaining from our most basic nutritional needs... the critically important fat soluble vitamins (A, D & K — especially MK-4 because it is what fuels the body, down to the mitochondrial electron transport chain but it is also involved in creating the vitamin K dependent proteins, activating specific genes and making testosterone (and other hormones)) and others.
With over 20 years of treating patients, I have come to the definitive conclusion that the poorest of oral health is categorically presented by that of vegans and vegetarians. Their oral health is almost always worse than that of the chain smoker, candy addicts and even the chemo patient. In the early stages, these patients present with tooth sensitivity and gum recession (which is actually early bone loss). In the moderate stages, the presentation includes deeper decay, exposed root tips and the shifting of teeth. Advanced stages include chronic and recurrent infections (root canals and abscesses) and some tooth mobility. That which presents in the mouth is an indication of what's going on in the body and brain. Commonly, these patients also present with anxiety and malaise, eczema, muscle rigidity, general aches, low energy, gut and digestive issues, high inflammation markers, allergies and brain fog. And yes, fertility, libido and thyroid function will also be severely compromised in this patient population as well.
I learned long ago that I couldn't help this patient population unless they changed their diets. While I'd prefer to see the inclusion of organ meats and nourishing animal fats like marrow, suet, tallow and lard, I at least need to see a willingness to practice ovo-lacto vegetarianism and even perhaps pescetarianism. If you can't do this, I can't help you... I've tried and I've tried and I've tried; there's no more amount of trying that can make it work. COLLAGEN [VS] OUR BONE MARROW
To be certain, collagen peptides offer many benefits… however, collagen peptides will not contain bone marrow (nor) the incredible nourishment of the bone matrix which is at the heart of whole bone extracts and bone soups… this is because almost all commercial collagen supplements come from the hides, not the bones.

TOO MUCH CALCIUM
I totally agree with the too much calcium concern... people have been told for decades to get more of the stuff and it's backfiring. Perhaps you too have read "The Calcium Paradox" so you know better... perhaps you know that when calcium is not married with the fat solubles (D, A and especially K2), trouble can arise. Perhaps you know that vitamin D3 is required to absorb Ca... vitamin A is required for osteoclastic activity / bone remodeling so that substrates like Ca actually have a home to go to... K2 is required to usher Ca out of the soft tissues (which is where trouble can arise) and into the hard tissues like bones and teeth.
If you're concerned about voltage gated calcium channels (vgcc), move away from the EMFs (turn off the wifi already, especially at night) and continue to mind your magnesium. If it were me, I would continue to get my nourishment from actual foods, soil and sun... exactly the way that our DNA evolved getting it... exactly the way that our early ancestors got it!

WE EVOLVED EATING THE WHOLE BONE

In the mid 1900s, Swedish oncologist Dr. Astrid Brohult was working with leukemia patients in a children’s hospital. POTENTIAL ISSUES (DETOX REACTION)
Most customers tolerate our supplements without incident; however, approximately 5 to 10% of customers (usually with an autoimmune condition) may experience a detoxification reaction. Detoxification reactions go by many different names including healing reactions, healing crises, cleansing reactions (or) Herxheimer reactions with hallmark symptoms of nausea, headache, lethargy, dizziness and other flu like symptoms. In this instance, detoxification reactions are generally an indication that detoxification pathways in the body are back online... cells suddenly have an opportunity to release an even greater than normal quantity of stored toxins, metabolic wastes, pathogens and unwanted material.
A detoxification reaction is more likely to occur when starting with the full suggested serving size of 6 capsules per day. If you know that you are sensitive to supplements and/or you have an autoimmune condition, you may wish to start slow when adding this product to your current regimen. Tolerability can be greatly improved by starting with just 1 (or) 2 capsules a day and increasing by just 1 capsule every couple of days — this method may take a full two weeks to achieve the desired serving size of 6 capsules per day.
For customers that are highly sensitive to supplements and/or have an autoimmune and/or methylation SNPs, I suggest that you "play it safe" by introducing just one new capsule per week. In other words, just 1 capsule during the 1st week... 2 capsules during the 2nd week... 3 capsules during the 3rd week and so on... yes, this will take some time to reach the suggested dosages but this greatly helps to ensure tolerability of this deep nourishment so that it has a chance to do good.
KIDNEY NUTRITION [ANCESTRAL NUTRITION]
Many kidney issues have either a hyperinsulinemic characteristic, an autoimmune characteristic, and or a combination of autoimmunity or hyperinsulinism. I'm not saying that all do, just most! A standard, low-ish carb paleo/primal diet can fix most of these issues. For serious kidney damage a low-protein, ketogenic diet can be remarkably therapeutic (see below).
Restrict protein to just what your body needs. An ideal protein intake for most is 40 to 70 grams a day (The AKF recommends a maximum of 50 grams).
Restrict or eliminate carbs... chronically elevated BLOOD GLUCOSE levels DO cause kidney damage.
Restrict or eliminate fruits and all fructose. Dietary fructose REALLY causes kidney damage.
Restrict liquids to pure, clean water... stop the sugar madness and drink what our early ancestors drank!
If you get kidney stones that are from oxalates, reduce your green veggie intake (spinach for example) and have other types of veggies.
If you get kidney stones that are from urate salts, you are likely NOT following a low-ish carb paleo diet, you likely have insulin resistance and your liver is not processing uric acid.
Ketosis is a high fat, moderate protein, low carbohydrate way of eating. For serious kidney damage, consider going with a higher fat, lower protein and low carbs approach. Have a look at what I eat but be careful with too much protein as this can kick you out of ketosis and add stress to your kidneys.

We generally carb reload on the weekends with plenty of sweet potatoes, raw local honey, the occasional sorghum and various in-season fruits. For kidney health, I don't suggest massive refeeds like we do... stay the course until you're better.
We also do a twenty-four to thirty hour fast on Sundays... it's not as bad as it sounds. We eat an early dinner as we normally would on early Saturday evening... skip our first meal on Sunday, and eat an amazing fish-based dinner (usually wild caught sardines) with the entire tribe on Sunday. Once a quarter, we do a 5-day water only fast (adults only). For kidney health, check with your doctor first... stage 3 and 4 patients may have more difficulties maintaining fluid.

The word “systemic” means body wide. Systemic enzymes are those that operate not just for digestion but throughout your body in every system and organ. But let’s take first things first, what is an enzyme?
An enzyme is a biocatalyst - something that makes something else work or work faster. Chemical reactions are generally slow things, enzymes speed them up. Without enzymes the chemical reactions that make up our life would be too slow for life as we know it. (As slow as sap running down a tree in winter). For life to manifest as we know it, enzymes are essential to speed up the reactions. We have roughly some 3000 enzymes in our bodies and that results in over 7000 enzymic reactions. Most of these enzymes are derived or created from what we think of as the protein digesting enzymes. But while digestion is an important part of what enzymes do, it's almost the absolute last function.
First and foremost these body wide proteolytic (protein eating) enzymes have the following actions:
Natural Anti-Inflammatory: Inflammation is a reaction by the immune system to an irritation. Let’s say you have an injured right knee. The immune system, sensing the irritation the knee is undergoing, creates a protein chain called a Circulating Immune Complex (CIC for short), tagged specifically for that right knee. (The Nobel Prize in biology was won in 1999 by a scientist who discovered this tagging mechanism). This CIC floats down to the right knee and causes pain, redness and swelling; the classic earmarks for inflammation. This at first is a beneficial reaction because it warns us that a part of ourselves is hurt and needs attention. But, inflammation is self-perpetuating; itself creating an irritation that the body makes CIC’s to in response!
At this point, most people turn to their medicine chest and take a couple of Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Celebrex, Vioxx, etc. And the problem with that is: NSAID's work by keeping the body from making all CIC's!!! This ignores the fact that some CIC’s are vital to life, like those that maintain the lining of the intestines and those that keep the kidneys functioning! Not to mention the fact that the NSAID’s, along with acetaminophen, are highly toxic to the liver. Every year 20,000 Americans die from these over the counter drugs and another 100,000 will wind up in the hospital with liver damage, kidney damage or bleeding intestines from the side effects of these drugs. (4,5). This is where systemic enzyme use is so important.
Systemic Enzymes are the first line of defense against inflammation. (1,2,3). Systemic enzymes are perfectly safe and free of dangerous side effects and they have no LD-50, or toxic dose. (6). Best of all systemic enzymes can tell the difference between the good CIC’s and the bad ones because hydrolytic enzymes are lock and key mechanisms and their "teeth" will only fit over the bad CIC’s. So instead of preventing the creation of all CIC’s, systemic enzymes just “eat” the bad ones and in so doing lower inflammation everywhere. With that, pain is lowered also. Anti-Fibrosis: Systemic Enzymes eat scar tissue and fibrosis. (7). Fibrosis is scar tissue and most doctors learn in anatomy that it is fibrosis that eventually kills us all. Let me explain: As we age, which starts at 27, we have a diminishing of the bodies’ output of enzymes. This is because we make a finite amount of enzymes in a lifetime and we use up a good deal of them by the time we are 27. At that point the body knows that if it keeps up that rate of consumption we’ll run out of enzymes and be dead by the time we reach our 40’s. (Cystic Fibrosis patients who have virtually no enzyme production to speak of, even as children usually don’t make it past their 20’s before they die of the restriction and shrinkage in the lungs from the formation of fibrosis or scar tissue). So, our body in it's wisdom begins to dole out our enzymes with an eyedropper instead of with a tablespoon; as a result, the repair mechanism of the body goes out of balance and has nothing to reduce the over abundance of fibrin it deposits in nearly every thing from simple cuts, to the inside of our internal organs and blood vessels. This is when most women begin to develop things like fibrocystic breast disease, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and we all grow arterial sclerotic (meaning scar tissue) plaque, and have fibrin beginning to spider web its way inside of our internal organs reducing their size and function over time. This is why as we age our wounds heal with thicker, less pliable, weaker and very visible scars. If we replace the lost enzymes we can control and reduce the amount of scar tissue and fibrosis our bodies have. As physicians in the US are now discovering, even old scar tissue can be “eaten away” from surgical wounds, pulmonary fibrosis, kidney fibrosis and even keloids years after their formation. Medical doctors in Europe and Asia have known this and have used orally administered enzymes for these situations for over 40 years! Blood Cleansing: The blood is not only the river of life, it is also the river through which the cells and organs dispose of their garbage and dead material. Enzymes improve circulation by eating the excess fibrin that causes blood to sometimes get as thick as catsup or yogurt, creating the perfect environment for the formation of clots. All of this material is supposed to be cleared by the liver on its "first pass", or the first time it goes through but given the sluggish and near toxic or toxic states of everyone's liver these days that seldom happens. So the sludge remains in the blood waiting for the liver to have enough free working space and enough enzymes to clean the trash out of the blood. This can take days, and in some cases, weeks! (8). When systemic enzymes are taken, they stand ready in the blood and take the strain off of the liver by:
Cleaning excess fibrin from the blood and reducing the stickiness of blood cells. These two actions minimize the leading causes of stroke and heart attack causing blood clots. (8).
Breaking dead material down small enough that it can immediately pass into the bowel. (8).
Cleanse the FC receptors on the white blood cells improving their function and availability to fight off infection. (9). And here we come to the only warning we have to give concerning the use of systemic enzymes - don't use the product if you are a hemophiliac or are on prescription blood thinners like Coumadin and Heparin, without direct medical supervision. The enzymes cause the drugs to work better so there is the possibility of thinning the blood too much.
Immune System Modulating: Enzymes are adaptogenic seeking to restore a steady state to the body. (9). When the immune system is running low we become susceptible to infectious disease, when it’s cranked up too high then the system creates antibodies that attack it's own tissues as are seen in the auto immune diseases of MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Lupus. Here the enzymes will tone down immune function and eat away at the antibodies the immune system is making to attack its bodies own tissue. Virus and Bacteria Fighting: Viruses harm us by replicating in our bodies. To do this a virus must bond itself to the DNA in our cells through the medium of its exterior protein cell wall. Anything that disrupts that cell wall inhibits the ability of viral replication by rendering individual viruses inert. (10,11). Systemic enzymes can tell the difference between the proteins that are supposed to be in your body and those that are foreign or not supposed to be there, (again the enzyme lock and key mechanism). Serrapeptase has the strongest protein eating effect of any commercially available enzyme and can be of help in combating viruses. Systemic Enzymes also have been found to have mild anti-bacterial properties. A bacteria is a foreign protein (exogenous). Proteolytic enzymes eat exogenous proteins in the body. One note: many in the States have learned in school that enzymes are too big a protein to be absorbed through the gut. The pioneering research done in the US by Dr. Max Wolf (MD & PhD x7) at Columbia University in the 40’s through the 70’s has not made it to the awareness of most doctors. Our blood is the vessel that carries vital nutrients, oxygen, and hormones throughout our entire body in order to provide nourishment to our organs, bones, muscles, tendons and skin. Interestingly, this life-giving fluid is a specialized type of connective tissue that consists of red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells suspended in a liquid plasma matrix. Blood regulates our pH, our body temperature, and the hydration of our cells. It fights infections and protects us from disease by transporting immune proteins, phagocytic white blood cells, and antibodies where they are needed most. It even protects itself by forming blood clots to prevent excess blood loss.
With the proper nourishment from blood, our organs and tissues can function normally to promote our optimal overall health. In the modern world, many of us are struggling with nutrient deficiencies and poor blood health… most commonly anemia. Anemia is derived from the Greek word anaimiā, meaning "without blood". If you’re struggling with anemia, you’ll need to address it before trying to work on other health concerns. Iron is fundamental for energy production thus resolving other health issues will be virtually impossible until iron levels are increased. Any of the strategies you attempt to solve other health concerns aren't going to reach their full potential, or may not work at all, if energy production is compromised. Resolving anemia should be your first priority. That said, increasing iron levels won't sort out anemia in the long-term if there is another underlying problem. Poor spleen, liver, or thyroid health, celiacs, or other absorption issues might be at play. Once you’ve increased iron levels you’ll need to address the other underlying conditions to promote healthy long term iron status.
Beyond energy production, iron is needed to synthesize nitric oxide (a blood vessel dilator), so not only do you not have enough oxygen in your blood when anemic, you can’t deliver it as well to your tissues. The thyroid peroxidase enzyme is dependent on iron, so if you have low iron your thyroid production will suffer as well. The enzyme that produces bleach to kill pathogens, myeloperoxidase, is also iron dependent. If you don’t have enough iron you can’t engage in that particular pattern of pathogen destruction, which means your immune system is going to fail and make you susceptible to acute infections, as well as increase the potential for chronic infections and gut dysbiosis.

RED / WHITE BLOOD CELLS AND PLATELETS
Our blood is our river of life, transporting various substances that must be carried from one part of our body to another. Within our river of blood we have three different types of blood cells… red, white, and platelets. Red blood cells transport oxygen to our body's organs and tissues, white blood cells help our body fight infections, and platelets help our blood coagulate.
Together, red cells (erythrocytes) and white cells (leukocytes) are part of the full blood count, one of the most frequently requested haematology tests. Blood consists of 45% red blood cells, less than 1% white blood cells and platelets, and 55% plasma. All three types of blood cells are manufactured from stem cells deep within our bone marrow. Our blood cells are constantly being replenished since our red blood cells normally live for about 120 days, while some white blood cells only live for one to three days.
Red Blood Cells are shaped like small round discs with an indented center and flow smoothly through the blood vessels. Any irregular shape can make the cells "sticky" and unable to flow smoothly. This causes a blockage in blood flow and can lead to acute / chronic pain, infection or organ damage. Deformed cells die faster than normal blood cells—in about 10 to 20 days instead of 120 days. This causes a shortage of red blood cells.
The protein molecule of our red blood cells, hemoglobin, is what carries oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues and returns carbon dioxide to be expelled. Embedded within the heme compound is an iron atom that is responsible for the color of our blood. The level of oxygen in our blood cells determines the brightness of the red color. Blood pumped directly from the heart is oxygen rich and bright red, while blood carrying carbon dioxide is a much darker red and can appear deep blue or even purple when seen through the skin.
White Blood Cells are our immunity cells, always prepared for battle. They flow through our bloodstream to fight viruses, bacteria, and other foreign invaders that threaten our health. When our body is in distress and a particular area is under attack, white blood cells rush in to help destroy the harmful substance and prevent illness.
There are many different types of white blood cells that play a role in the immune response... essentially we have general responders and targeted responders.
General responders are white blood cells that recognize the antigens on the surface of bacteria, viruses, and other invaders and quickly destroy them. These cells don’t discriminate among different threats in your body; they just launch an all-out attack. This is known as a generalized immune response. Some of these cells also help pave the way for a more targeted response to specific bacteria, viruses, and other unwanted materials.
Targeted responders are white blood cells known as lymphocytes, which target invaders by producing proteins called antibodies that attack specific antigens. This process is known as a targeted or specific immune response. Each antigen that enters your body has an antibody targeted to it. Your body remembers which antibody will destroy a certain intruder, which creates a quicker immune response in the future.
Platelets are small, colorless cell fragments in our blood that form clots and stop or prevent bleeding. They are essential to surviving surgeries such as organ transplant, as well as fighting cancer, chronic diseases, and traumatic injuries. If one of your blood vessels gets damaged, it sends out signals to the platelets. Platelets then rush to the site of damage and form a clot by spreading across the broken blood vessel. When platelets get to the site of the injury, they grow sticky tentacles that help them adhere to one another. They even call in for reinforcements, by sending out chemical signals to attract more platelets.

HEME IRON
Depending on whether we are male or female, we have about 2-4 grams of iron in our body. More than 95% of functional iron in the human body is in the form of heme. Iron comes in two forms: heme and non-heme. Heme iron is only found in animal food sources (muscle meat, organs, blood, etc). Non-heme iron is found in plant foods like whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, and leafy greens. Heme iron is more bioavailable (absorbed more efficiently) than non-heme iron, thus the body is more likely to absorb iron from animal products than iron derived from plant foods.
Heme iron is an essential nutrient for humans. That said, there can be complications that come from too much iron because it is one of nature's most potent oxidants. Oxidants aren’t bad… they are natural by-products our cells create when they convert food into energy. They're a totally normal part of the way our bodies function and all natural oxidants are easily tolerated. We need to be in a sweet spot where the amount of iron is just right. Processed foods fortified with iron deliver nonheme iron straight into the gastrointestinal tract where it isn’t absorbed easily and is likely to run free. It becomes free energy for pathogens and can cause oxidative stress. That’s one reason (among many!) to avoid refined grains.

B Vitamins
In addition to iron, the body also needs riboflavin (B2), folate (B9), and Vitamin B12 to produce healthy red blood cells. Folate is essential for red blood cell formation, immune, brain and cardiovascular health. Riboflavin is essential for the absorption and correct distribution of iron. B12 helps with energy production and DNA synthesis. All B vitamins help the body metabolize fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. They also help the nervous system function properly and are necessary for a healthy liver, skin, hair, and eyes.
Riboflavin (B2)
Riboflavin helps our body absorb iron and direct it where it needs to go. In addition to providing energy for the body, riboflavin also acts as an antioxidant, helps the body convert B6 and folate into forms it can use, and is necessary for growth and cell formation. Depending on our diet, age, iron status, and hormone health, each of us will have a unique need for riboflavin. Low thyroid and adrenal hormones can impair your utilization and retention of riboflavin. Lifestyle practices that increase your need for riboflavin include: sun exposure, exercise, growth (children need more riboflavin than adults), and diet. Consuming a ketogenic diet increases riboflavin needs because burning fat requires almost twice as much riboflavin as burning carbohydrates.
If you have iron deficiency anemia that doesn't respond to an iron rich diet and iron supplementation you may be running low on riboflavin. Most people may actually need 2-5 milligrams of riboflavin per day instead of the RDA of 1.3 mg. Those with anemia may consider 5-10mg per day. Improving your riboflavin levels can help to improve your iron absorption. Even simply improving riboflavin status (without additional iron supplementation) can improve your hemoglobin levels.
Our ancestors ate diets largely based on animal foods including nutrient dense organ meats, rich in riboflavin. Riboflavin deficiency is a consequence of the modern diet. Folate (B9)
Folate aids in the complete development of red blood cells, reduces levels of homocysteine in the blood, and supports nervous system function. Folate is a general term for a group of water soluble b-vitamins, and is also known as B9. It's important to know the difference between folate and folic acid. Folic acid is a synthetic compound used in dietary supplements and food fortification, whereas folate is naturally found in whole foods.
Human exposure to folic acid was non-existent until its chemical synthesis in 1943, and was introduced as a mandatory food fortification in 1998. B12 (cobalamin)

POTENTIAL ISSUES (DETOX REACTION)

The suggested use is 6 capsules a day or as directed by a healthcare professional — for added support, the dose can be doubled or tripled. If consuming more than six capsules at once, the doses should be separated by at least three hours to improve tolerability.

POTENTIAL ISSUES (DETOX REACTION)
Most customers tolerate our supplements without incident; however, approximately 5 to 10% of customers (usually with an autoimmune condition) may experience a detoxification reaction. Detoxification reactions go by many different names including healing reactions, healing crises, cleansing reactions (or) Herxheimer reactions with hallmark symptoms of nausea, headache, lethargy, dizziness and other flu-like symptoms. In this instance, detoxification reactions are generally an indication that detoxification pathways in the body are back online... cells suddenly have an opportunity to release an even greater than normal quantity of stored toxins, metabolic wastes, pathogens and unwanted material.
A detoxification reaction is more likely to occur when starting with the full suggested serving size of 6 capsules per day. If you know that you are sensitive to supplements and/or you have an autoimmune condition, you may wish to start slow when adding this product to your current regimen. They help expand the proportions of our living... they create a certain kind of energy that extends beyond our flesh... they fill a well that sustains the life we go back to. We are descendants of the sole surviving species of genus Homo (the baddest mammalian predators that ever lived).
STRUGGLE DEVELOPS STRENGTH
The koala bear once had a full-fledged brain that occupied the full innards of that cranium. Then, the koala discovered eucalyptus trees which provided massive 24/7 comforts… protection from prey and an endless buffet. As a species, the koala hasn’t had to really struggle for anything, for a very long time. As a consequence, they (the modern day koalas) now enjoy the smallest relative brain size of all such furry creatures and the relative intelligence of a snow globe. Does this story sound familiar?… well, it should… because it’s happening to us modern day Sapiens. Struggle develops strength which is why “Do Something That Makes You Uncomfortable” is one of my favorite habits.
[9] TRIBAL BONDING
Since the inception of our species, we belonged to a far greater purpose... you'd be hard pressed to find things more primal than that of "purpose" itself. Think about it... purpose was guarding the perimeter from danger (lions, hyenas, other tribes) to protect one's tribe... purpose was hunting and foraging to feed one's tribe... purpose was building, tool making and weapon making to shelter and shield one's tribe... purpose was care taking and love making to nurture, to nourish and to grow one's tribe.... purpose was in teaching and in tradition, and in play to cultivate wise traditions, to deepen social bonds, and simply, to enjoy the most profound parasympathetic state of rest and relaxation. This kind of purpose decided whether people would live or die.
In a tribe, we believed and we belonged... we believed and belonged to each other (to thy fellow man; to thy fellow woman; to thy shared belief)... we belonged with such connection and purpose that we clearly knew our roles and goals as individuals and we knew exactly where we fit in... we knew our place in the tribe.. we knew our place in the world... in the modern world, most people don't know their place in their own homes.
In the modern world, we don't really have to band together and fight or struggle for anything anymore (unless there's a horrific hurricane, a 9-11 attack or a mass public shooting) because uncle Sam has done that for us. We enjoy the illusion of protection and we enjoy the illusion of support and community... this allows us to sort of exist but certainly not thrive. This leaves us devoid of that primal purpose that our big brains evolved with... that our big brains still expect in the modern world to heal and be healthy.
