I was born with a hole in my heart. I went from being told there was nothing that could be done for me as I was too complicated to where I am now. As a nine year old child my parents were told that I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 12 years of age and would most likely not reach 21 without heart surgery which in 1955 was in its infancy.
