The location is near the village of Byronia, Serres, a small village at the foot of Mount Kerkini, close by a lake and above the river Strymon. It is within the Kerkini National Park that includes Lake Kerkini and the river Strymon, and runs from the lake to the Greek-Bulgarian border.
