Folate is essential for red blood cell formation, immune, brain and cardiovascular health. Riboflavin is essential for the absorption and correct distribution of iron. B12 helps with energy production and DNA synthesis. All B vitamins help the body metabolize fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. They also help the nervous system function properly and are necessary for a healthy liver, skin, hair, and eyes. Riboflavin (B2) Riboflavin helps our body absorb iron and direct it where it needs to go. In addition to providing energy for the body, riboflavin also acts as an antioxidant, helps the body convert B6 and folate into forms it can use, and is necessary for growth and cell formation. Depending on our diet, age, iron status, and hormone health, each of us will have a unique need for riboflavin. Low thyroid and adrenal hormones can impair your utilization and retention of riboflavin. Lifestyle practices that increase your need for riboflavin include: sun exposure, exercise, growth (children need more riboflavin than adults), and diet. This is why it breaks my heart to see the devastating consequences of abstaining from our most basic nutritional needs... the critically important fat soluble vitamins (A, D & K — especially MK-4 because it is what fuels the body, down to the mitochondrial electron transport chain but it is also involved in creating the vitamin K dependent proteins, activating specific genes and making testosterone (and other hormones)) and others. With over 20 years of treating patients, I have come to the definitive conclusion that the poorest of oral health is categorically presented by that of vegans and vegetarians. Their oral health is almost always worse than that of the chain smoker, candy addicts and even the chemo patient. I learned long ago that I couldn't help this patient population unless they changed their diets. While I'd prefer to see the inclusion of organ meats and nourishing animal fats like marrow, suet, tallow and lard, I at least need to see a willingness to practice ovo-lacto vegetarianism and even perhaps pescetarianism. If you can't do this, I can't help you... I've tried and I've tried and I've tried; there's no more amount of trying that can make it work. The ability of nattokinase to breakdown fibrin has been tested in more than 12 studies [11], and nattokinase has been shown to be the most potent fibrin-degrading enzyme out of more than 200 foods tested [3]. Researchers have found that nattokinase works much in the same way as plasmin [3], which means thatnattokinase literally dissolves fibrin, whether it is holding together blood clots or is part of scar tissue [12]. However, nattokinase also blocks the activity of plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1), which boosts its fibrin-destroying capabilities even more [9,13]. Plasminogen is made into plasmin, the body's fibrin-dissolving enzyme. However, the conversion process is inactivated by PAI-1. This is why high levels of PAI-1 reduce fibrin breakdown and removal [14]. Nattokinase increases fibrin breakdown by blocking PAI-1 so that more plasmin is produced. Because of this nattokinase is not only able to stop dangerous blood clots from developing but also helps dissolve any clots that have already formed. As a result, oral nattokinase supplements are recommended for preventing cardiovascular disease [15]. Nattokinase has also been shown to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in high-risk patients in combination with pycnogenol[16]. Bromelain Bromelain is an extract from pineapple that contains a number of fibrin-degrading enzymes [17,18], as well as enzymes that enhance this fibrin-dissolving action [19]. Bromelain was shown to increase the conversion of plasminogen into plasmin [20-22]. It has also been shown to prevent the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin [17]. However, unlike nattokinase, bromelain is not able to dissolve fibrin clumps that have already formed [17]. Because a high percentage of ingested bromelain is absorbed intact into the bloodstream, protein- and fibrin-degrading activity in the blood can be increased for hours after taking it [23]. Two large-scale trials in patients with heart problems showed that bromelain could almost completely eliminate thrombosis [24]. Serrapeptase Serrapeptase is another important component of Neprinol's advanced fibrin defense. Serrapeptase is a protein-degrading enzyme isolated from the silk worm [25]. It has significant anti-inflammatory and fibrin-removal activity [26], which makes it ideal for preventing blood clot formation associated with cardiovascular disease. Other Diseases Linked to Fibrin The buildup of excess fibrin in the body can cause more health problems than just blood clots. Fibrin has also been linked to a number of chronic and progressive diseases like multiple sclerosis [27,28] and asthma [29]. MyReuteri contains high counts of the important gastrointestinal microbe, Lactobacillus reuteri, that Dr. Davis has been talking about, making yogurt with, and studying in humans and animals. Because L. reuteri, as well as many other bacterial species, is susceptible to common antibiotics, many have lost this microbe and thereby all of its potential benefits. MyReuteri is our way of restoring this important microbe. Does MyReuteri have to be refrigerated? While it does not hurt to refrigerate MyReuteri, there is no need to. It is helpful, however, to store in a relatively cool area out of direct sunlight and, of course, with the cap on, as want the microbes to avoid exposure to moisture. My product arrived hot. Is the probiotic still good? The probiotic strains in MyReuteri can start to die off around 110°F (43°C). MyReuteri is stored at room temperature. So even if you received the product warm, it is still good. Should I take MyReuteri with food or without food? And any specific time of day? MyReuteri can be taken with food or without, as it does not impact significantly on the number of surviving microbes. The only precaution to take is to not consume theprobiotic capsules of MyReuteri while sipping or eating a food that is very hot, e.g.,coffee, tea, hot soups, as the heat can kill the microbes and may reduce potentialbenefits. Why are there such high numbers of microbes in MyReuteri? Oxiceutics experience has been that, in general, greater numbers of microbes with probiotic properties provide greater effects than smaller numbers. Inulin, a prebiotic fiber in common foods, supports Lactobacillus reuteri in lactose digestion. If you have a reaction to inulin yogurt, consult your doctor. Can I take MyReuteri in combination with other nutritional supplements? Yes, but with some exceptions. Because MyReuteri is a living microbe, we avoid taking it with anything that has antibiotic effects. This includes any supplement containing iodine, any supplement you may be taking to manage intestinal dysbiosis, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), or fungal overgrowth. This includes supplements such as berberine, curcumin (turmeric), and essential oils taken orally. Other supplements such as vitamin D, fish oil, magnesium and many others are perfectly compatible. Is it safe to take MyReuteri with other probiotics? Yes, it is perfectly safe to combine MyReuteri with other probiotics including with Gut to Glow. I am experiencing some nausea and stomach upset with MyReuteri. What doesthis mean and should I stop taking it? This is a common experience with any probiotic and is due to antagonistic effects that L.reuteri and other probiotic species introduce against unhealthy microbes in thegastrointestinal tract. One way to deal with this is to reduce the dose, e.g., reduce from two capsules per day to one capsule per day or even one capsule every-other-day. You can also take your dose with food to disperse the bacteria. Should I anticipate side-effects from taking MyReuteri? Beyond the nausea, bloating, and diarrhea that can occur when initiating any probiotic, we know of no side effects of supplementing MyReuteri. You may have heard Dr. Davis say that nearly all hunter-gatherer humans and mammals have this microbe–it’s most modern humans that have lost this microbe and thereby its potential benefits. Restoring factors that should have been part of the human experience all along is therefore typically not associated with adverse effects. Why have modern people lost L. reuteri, the microbial species contained inMyReuteri? Modern people have been overexposed to antibiotics such as amoxicillin, cefazolin, and gentamicin. L. reuteri, the microbial species contained in MyReuteri, is very susceptible to common antibiotics and has therefore been eradicated from the gastrointestinal microbiomes of most people. There may be other factors that contribute to its disappearance such as herbicide and pesticide residues in food, food additives with antimicrobial properties such as food preservatives and emulsifying (mixing) agents, and various pharmaceuticals. Even German microbiologist, Dr. Gerhard Reuter, who initially discovered this microbe in the breastmilk of a breastfeeding mother in 1962 made the observation over his subsequent 40-year academic career, that it became harder and harder to recover this organism from breastmilk, stool, and other body locations over this time period. More recent analyses have corroborated Dr. Reuter’s observation: L. reuteri has been lost by many people. Why do you recommend that we not take MyReuteri during pregnancy? MyReuteri provides the microbe, L. reuteri, at relatively high counts, as does Gut toGlow. While all mammals, including humans, are meant to have this beneficial microbe as part of their gastrointestinal microbiome, we do not know if the high counts provided by these products (or as the yogurt that you ferment from these products) is safe in the setting of pregnancy. Recall that women can be given oxytocin intravenously to provoke uterine contraction at term pregnancy, causing the baby to be delivered. (L. reuteri has been shown in animal studies to increase oxytocin.) We therefore do not know if it is safe to consume higher intakes of L. reuteri in pregnant females. Can I make “yogurt” with MyReuteri? Yes, absolutely. You can use the microbes in MyReuteri as a starter for yogurt making.  Of course, it is not really yogurt in the conventional sense, but a fermented dairy product that looks and smells like yogurt. In our analyses of the yogurts made from MyReuteri, we obtain approximately 300 billion CFUs (microbial counts) per ½-cup serving. Yogurt made from MyReuteri will be more sour than conventional yogurt because the extended fermentation method we use to achieve high bacterial counts also converts nearly all the lactose to lactic acid, accounting for the acidic or sour flavor. Feel free to add blueberries, strawberries, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, and healthy non-caloric sweeteners such as monk fruit, allulose, or stevia to soften the sourness. First and foremost these body wide proteolytic (protein eating) enzymes have the following actions: Natural Anti-Inflammatory: Inflammation is a reaction by the immune system to an irritation. Let’s say you have an injured right knee. The immune system, sensing the irritation the knee is undergoing, creates a protein chain called a Circulating Immune Complex (CIC for short), tagged specifically for that right knee. (The Nobel Prize in biology was won in 1999 by a scientist who discovered this tagging mechanism). This CIC floats down to the right knee and causes pain, redness and swelling; the classic earmarks for inflammation. This at first is a beneficial reaction because it warns us that a part of ourselves is hurt and needs attention. But, inflammation is self-perpetuating; itself creating an irritation that the body makes CIC’s to in response!   At this point, most people turn to their medicine chest and take a couple of Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Celebrex, Vioxx, etc. And the problem with that is: NSAID's work by keeping the body from making all CIC's!!! This ignores the fact that some CIC’s are vital to life, like those that maintain the lining of the intestines and those that keep the kidneys functioning! Not to mention the fact that the NSAID’s, along with acetaminophen, are highly toxic to the liver. (4,5). This is where systemic enzyme use is so important.   Systemic Enzymes are the first line of defense against inflammation. (1,2,3). Anti-Fibrosis:  Systemic Enzymes eat scar tissue and fibrosis. (7). Fibrosis is scar tissue and most doctors learn in anatomy that it is fibrosis that eventually kills us all. Let me explain: As we age, which starts at 27, we have a diminishing of the bodies’ output of enzymes. This is because we make a finite amount of enzymes in a lifetime and we use up a good deal of them by the time we are 27. At that point the body knows that if it keeps up that rate of consumption we’ll run out of enzymes and be dead by the time we reach our 40’s. (Cystic Fibrosis patients who have virtually no enzyme production to speak of, even as children usually don’t make it past their 20’s before they die of the restriction and shrinkage in the lungs from the formation of fibrosis or scar tissue). So, our body in it's wisdom begins to dole out our enzymes with an eyedropper instead of with a tablespoon; as a result, the repair mechanism of the body goes out of balance and has nothing to reduce the over abundance of fibrin it deposits in nearly every thing from simple cuts, to the inside of our internal organs and blood vessels. This is when most women begin to develop things like fibrocystic breast disease, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and we all grow arterial sclerotic (meaning scar tissue) plaque, and have fibrin beginning to spider web its way inside of our internal organs reducing their size and function over time. This is why as we age our wounds heal with thicker, less pliable, weaker and very visible scars. If we replace the lost enzymes we can control and reduce the amount of scar tissue and fibrosis our bodies have. BAT is especially abundant in newborns and in hibernating mammals. It is also present and metabolically active in adult humans and its primary function is thermoregulation.[8] In the modern world though, we are rarely subjected to cold temperatures for any real duration... Let's face it, who likes that uncomfortable frigid feeling that comes with cold, especially when we have access to warmth 24/7. In modern times, we simply put on some clothes… turn up the heater… or we avoid the cold altogether by staying inside. Our potential for strength and health remains encoded in our DNA, and under certain conditions, we can genetically express the strongest, healthiest version of ourselves. Those "certain conditions" almost always have to do with nose-to-tail nutrition. We have 60,000 miles of blood vessels within us that are lined with smooth muscles that constrict (or) dilate based on our perception of temperature. This process of vasoconstriction and vasodilation is like exercise for your blood vessels.Cold exposure benefits include boosting heart health through improved circulation and increased tolerance to stress, upgraded immunity, and enhanced metabolic flexibility. Rhonda Patrick, PHD writes “cold exposures increase cold shock proteins including one in the brain that repairs damaged synapses and in muscle prevents atrophy, how cold-induced nor-epi-nephrine lowers inflammation and pain by decreasing the levels of 3 inflammatory mediators…”*[9]  This is very, very interesting stuff and it's grounded in evolutionary science.Give it a try. Start with cold / hot shower contrasts for 30 seconds at a time. At first, you'll down right hate me for it because it is down right uncomfortable. Continue the shower contrasts over a 30 day period. Take notice how you feel afterwards... it will keep you coming back for more. It gets easier and easier because the adaptive mechanisms, including the smooth muscles that line the blood vessels, adapt... they get stronger, faster and more efficient at doing what they were designed to do. You will notice that your ability to withstand cold will increase considerably after only a few days. SLEEP LIKE A ROCK On the hierarchy of health decisions, sleep trumps almost everything else. It's the low hanging fruit that can affect health metrics more than just about anything else. It's the time when your body and your brain detox, recover, rebuild and restore. How amazing is your sleep? Exactly what I thought! Instead of writing a long boring article about sleep tips, I'm bullet pointing this one.. why... because it's getting late and I need to get some shut eye. Get morning sun exposure (at the same time everyday) to regulate sleep / wake cycles. Finish your last meal at least 3 to 4 hours before bedtime... trust me, you can do this. Earthing... you can do it the old fashioned way or you can use grounding sheets like we do (Google it). We go on barefoot hikes all the time... we use an EMF meter to make sure there are no electrical fields around our bed... we turn off the wifi (actually don't have wifi but you do, so turn it off at night)... put your phone in airplane mode and make sure that there are no electronics (nor lights) anywhere near you. Your sleep temperature should be between 64 and 68. Use blackout curtains and blackout blinds... room needs to be pitch black. No battery lights, no night lights, nothing! Use Himalayan salt lamps at sunset instead of regular lighting. Wear UVEX safety goggles at least 2 hours before going to bed... this one is seriously a big deal. They cost $9 and they make all the difference. If you're not going to do anything else, do this! Last but not least, sleep on the floor like our tribe does... why you ask... because our bodies were never meant to be in a cast, courtesy of your bed, all night. If one had their thyroid removed, not only would Thyroid glandular still work, it would be necessary for life because each and every cell requires thyroid hormone (T3) for energy metabolism and mitochondrial signaling.
